I caught the Cummings/Eastern Guilford scrimmage yesterday. Here's what I noticed about both.....

EG-They looked pretty decent. Had good numbers (around 50). Lots of fit looking kids. Decent size in the trenches. They had a pretty good, tough RB. They also had one very tall receiver and another who possessed some good hands.

The Wildcats also had two QB's that can give you completely different looks. First QB was mobile and had a strong arm. Second QB was a tall, lanky lefty who had a nice touch on the ball.

EG struggled a bit in the secondary and with false starts. However, I can still see them winding up in second place in their conference.

Cummings-Well, I decided to see for myself what the Cavs had. I ended up being more intrigued than I thought I would.

This is a fairly dangerous team on offense. They're more than just Paylor. They have a QB who is quick and not at all afraid to throw the deep ball. He was torching EG's secondary early on. Cummings also has two strong RB's. One of those backs started off the scrimmage with a 70 yard run down the right sideline. The Cavs also possess pretty good size in the trenches. On defense, the Cavs were doing a good job of getting to the ball. Numbers wise, they had around 30 total.

Jonathon Paylor-This guy needs his own paragraph. I'm ashamed to admit that I couldn't figure out who he was until 30 minutes into the scrimmage. If you were to line the Cummings team up and say "Quick, point out the D-1 recruit", I think there would be a bit of hesitation amongst some people. He just doesn't really pop out at you.

When he hits that gridiron, it's a different story. This guy can flat turn on the afterburners. The Cavs were using him at wideout/slot and most of the time he was a decoy. When they did go his way, it was really fun to watch. He caught a pass on the right side, took about two steps, and then just shot down the right sideline and left everyone in the dust. When he commits to a route, it looks like he's shot out of a cannon. I'm going to go ahead and say it.......Paylor is a less flashier TJ Logan.
