Let me just add this- I love football. I am a UK grad and was a season ticket holder at UK from 1996 through 2011. My family has been a season ticket holder of the Cincinnati Bengals since the 1980's which I took over exclusively in 2000. The significance of this is referenced below.
Why did I end my season tickets with UK?
There were a lot of reasons- but mostly I was unhappy with the direction of the program and the price of my seats. The last year I had season tickets at UK, I had far worse seats in Commonwealth Stadium than I had at Paul Brown Stadium for a much higher price. Yes, after paying the ticket price and the donation, my tickets were more expensive than my NFL tickets for worse seats. And, if you ever been to Paul Brown Stadium, you know the fan experience at Paul Brown Stadium is far greater than what you experience at UK (although to be fair UK has improved on this since 2011).
Since I ended my season tickets with UK, I've gone to every UK game I wanted to attend, with a parking pass, for far less than I would have paid for my season tickets with donation. In short, UK tickets are over-priced. Its so easy to get tickets for UK games for so little. You can even get a parking pass for a reasonable price (considering you aren't paying for a full season of tickets with donation).
I am concerned for my alma mater- the product is getting worse and the tickets are over-priced. If you don't believe me, try to sell your unused UK tickets.
How are they going to pay for those renovations?
