You have got to think Lebby and Loadholt feel confident in the situation. I know they are trying to hold onto Jayvin James but surely the 17 they would be snagging another tackle. I heard Sneh wasnt even close to his listed height but idk.
I'm at a loss as to why Lebby and Loadholt should feel confident in any situation involving words or phrases like "Offensive line", "offensive tackle", "linemen", etc. Unless linemen is referring to something like a utility lineman. Not sure what their familiarity is with the transmission or distribution of electricity. But pretty sure they should not be confident about linemen in the context of football.

I’m at even more of a loss as to why Lebby and Loadholt being confident in this situation - or any situation - should be of any reassurance to the rest of us.

We really are run by amateurs if they see this as anything more then a long shot.

Our current LT Jayvin James just entered the portal. He wasn't processed, he left because Lebby recruited Seaton. Robbie said on the podcast they were working to keep him. Didn't work, I guess. Lebby is like the anti-Cignetti. Poor evaluations, poor coaching hires, poor roster moves.

Yeah, they 100% should have been planning on this....like i stated in the other topic, there was no shot we were getting him to campus. We just don't have pockets that are deep enough to be able to compete on THAT level.

Makes sense, Cignetti has decades of experience, Lebby has training wheels and seems clueless. It’s money ball vs money bonfire

I guess yall would prefer he offered Jayvin the 4 mill ?? Lol. Not like he was great but at least he has experience
I was thinking earlier today that if I had to guess, this has a lot less to do with Lebby recruiting Seaton than it does with James hearing that someone’s going to be paying $4-6M for his services.

Now James is putting a bet on himself, and time will tell as to whether it pays off

Naw this is classic recruiting over someone without much communication. He's got to be one stupid SOB to think he commands as much as the #4 guy in the portal or whatever he is.

I suspect this dude is tired of being told how much he sucks. And yeah I'm sure he'll take a little money to come back......but again.....is he even legally in the portal and does that rule mean anything.

If this follows the van buren, Jackson Arnold strike out that led to overpaying Kroemhoek, I predict Lebby panics and signs the highest rated third stringer on Florida States roster and over pays.
I don't think Van Buren was a strike out. I think we gladly let him go. And that was a good decision.

The loss of Arnold and the panic signing overpaying Kroemhoek was a blunder. Waste of money. Same pattern here. Watch , he will panic and over pay some backup O lineman

True. But honestly we lucked out with Arnold. Should have never been recruiting him in the first place.

I thought the portal closed on Jan 16 for everyone except players for Miami and Indiana. How is he just now entering the portal?
He entered his name in the portal last Friday after we brought Seaton in. The NCAA doesn't work weekends and holidays, hence it becomes official Tueday after MLK day.

I watched this guy ALL SEASON, good riddance. He was like a matador at a bullfight waving a red blanket in front of a DE or DT and letting them run right past him and wreak havoc in the backfield. He was TURRIBLE and should owe whatever he made this season back to us

You could have probably written this about ALL of our OL this season except for Reese. But SOMEBODY has to play LT and we still need an additional 4 other starters. We brought in a lot of guys with little production so who knows. Starting over again on the OL with little to no proven players isn't a great recipe for success. At least James, Work and Owens had been in the system for a year or more.

That's definitely possible. But it seems just as likely that he sees we are bringing in a ton of tackles already for him to compete with, and then we at least get a visit from somebody that would certainly start over him. Even if he's not dead set on being a LT, I can see him deciding he doesn't want to risk us landing Seaton and him at best be competing with a crowded field for RT. If he leaves this year, he's a young OL that looked bad this year but at least can sell the hope that he will put it together next year. If he stays and ends up on the bench, I think "got playing time early and then got passed over" is not as good of a sales pitch.

I guess we can roll with Isaiah Dent at left tackle. Should be interesting. He and Breyden Turnage can battle it out this spring

Well, he is in the portal now but, assuming we don't get Seaton, hopefully we can lure him back. He really played this year before he was ready. Could be significantly improved for next season. I assume we will know something on Seaton by the end of this week.

I could be wrong, but a quick glance at portal rankings seems to indicate that almost everyone we've brought in is an upgrade over the player that left.

Get out of here with that uplifting stuff. It's doom and gloom season, get on board. There is no way other team's bums are better than our esteemed OL and DL from this past season.

Matt Moscona reporting late last night that it did not seem Seaton took the visit to Oregon. He also says he was told that Seaton wants to be at LSU. Last day to enroll at LSU is today so I guess we will see.
You think he will go to class?

I don't know what that would be based on other than a ranking? McVay is the only OL that I know we've brought in who actually has decent starting experience on a P4 offensive line. The rest is all on potential.

He canceled his other trips and is camped out in Baton Rouge. I would say the odds are pretty spot on
