Why in the world does the university not give notices to students ‘no matter what, stay off the field’? I was there and I am not giving a dime for those who went onto the field. I know a fine is coming when we do. You can fork up the money if you want to!!

For what it's worth was in our seats and Dr. Keenum and Mrs. Rhonda were just sitting in there box smiling they usually leave relatively right after the game but it was a good 15 minutes after the field was turned and he was still there "taking it all in" as he said. The University and fans needed this. I'm sure he was aware of the cost and didn't seem to care. Enjoy it, now make it expected and we won't have to worry about a fine! HAILSTATE!

OK, Debbie Downer...

I'm sure most State fans are more than happy to pay this fine; as are Selmon and Lebby.
I’m sure most State fans would have been happy to pay an extra $500k to improve our roster next season. Now that money is going to the SEC office.

With student id’s etc I’m sure the technology is there to know who went on the field. Just slip an extra incidental fee into that tuition bill.

You guys need to keep up with the changes, it was in June. If they had waited till teams cleared field then no fine. This not a check we just write we cant afford it right now. Best option is to collect money at the gate for the next 3 games.

Dude they announced our endowment is now 1 billion what makes you think we can’t afford 500k? This is laughable. Look how much we are paying a freaking non revenue HEAD COACH. We have money, don’t worry.

Failure to notify everybody of increased penalty price. Appeal it using Jackie Wayne’s lawyer. Easy win.

The game hasn’t been forfeited. What in the heck are you talking about?
We needed the win, not to storm the field. It would have been nice to have the win plus the $500k we’re about to send to the SEC.

Besides it being stupid to burn half a mil for no reason, the rule is in place because storming the field is a dangerous situation. Players and coaches shouldn’t have to deal with fans on the playing surface, full stop.

For all of you po ol’s, the $500k is worth it. The positive press and attention is worth more than that. You literally can’t buy the attention we’ve gotten since then.

The field storming creates moments and images that others want to be a part of. Simple as.

Go to your podunk town hall if you want to discuss pinching Pennie’s. This is not a world where Templeton types do well.

The positive press came from beating the #12 ranked team on a 58-yard TD with 30 seconds to go.

Test my theory:
1-storm the field after we beat Alcorn State.
2-IF we beat Tennessee, DON’T storm the field.

Which one will generate better press?

They’re not mutually exclusive, bud. Storming the field enhances beating the #12 team. It’s not one or the other.

I didn’t say they are mutually exclusive. You seem to be confused as to where the positive press came from. It didn’t come from storming the field.

The money goes to the opposing school. This makes sense when its a conference game, but is the SEC making us give ASU an extra $500K? Maybe ASU would be nice and just donate it back?

I know this wont happen, but it would be cool if yhe coaches and players chipped in to pay the fine...sort of a "thank you" for the support.

Someone posted that there was a timer for the students to wait on storming the field, but the students shockingly did not let a timer hold them back. If there is a "next time", then maybe we could charge people to LEAVE the field once they have stormed it?
