So as long as a person floating in the wreckage of a ship isn’t considered part of armed forces, they can be blown up with a missile? You see how that’s worse right?
I do, but I was reacting to posting the Geneva convention which refers to armed forces. Point being, I'm not sure these supposed terrorists are protected by that convention.

One thing I've learned in life is not to jump to conclusions too quickly. Oftentimes the first reports are inaccurate. I'm sure more details will come out

Also, does seem like the waste of a missile. If you're just trying to kill people floating in the water, guns would do the job much cheaper.

Do you feel like missiles or guns are legal?

Would also value @ANEW ’s opinion.

Edit to add the condition: “assuming what is being reported is true”

You are an anarchist so get in the boat with the drug runners and help them if you want to

My position is take out ALL DRUG SHIPMENTS AS THEY ARE TERRORISTS

DON’T BE INVOLVED WITH TERRORISTS DRUG SHIPMENTS IF YOU WANT TO LIVE

Brilliant. Because, right now, those in the drug trade live long and fulfilled lives, free of violence and killing (including their own). But, now, they'll be totally ah-scurred of the thing they've already been facing every day. Deep thoughts.

HERES SOME MORE DEEP THOUGHTS

TAKE OUT ALL DRUG SHIPMENTS

IF YOU WANT TO RIDE ALONG WITH A DRUG SHIPMENT

YOU ARE WELCOME TO DO SO

both missiles and guns are legal under the Geneva convention, if that's what you are asking. If you mean are missiles and guns legal in the case of the drug boats, I don't know the answer to that. I know we're doing it, I assume that DoD with a gazillion lawyers has analyzed the case and determined it is, I know some of our elected officials support it and some don't, no one has filed an article of impeachment yet, I suspect someone will file a lawsuit, I suspect some lower court judge will issue a restraining order, that order will be appealed and I don't know where it goes from there.

I honestly don't know what @ANEW's position is.

the shooting of missiles at 2 survivors was first reported by Washington post, I believe. I admit I don't read the post, but I do find their reporting to be somewhat biased - based on excerpts reprinted in other media (not that I believe these other media either, in fact I find it hard to put 100% trust in any media these days)

Wasn’t what I was asking. Was mainly just pointing out that the method by which they kill people reportedly hanging to wreckage doesn’t matter. I also think you put more faith in this administration listening to its lawyers more than I do. Having read more it sounds like this didn’t qualify for Geneva bc it wasn’t an armed conflict from both sides. But honestly seems worse to me. Feels like straight murder killing people floating on wreckage (again assuming it happened as reported).

not a fan of killing unarmed people fighting for their lives. I don't know if story is correct or not. I guess we'll see with hearings.

Personally, just from my experience, I find it hard to believe that someone contacted Hegseth and said,"we have two terrorists floating in the water, clinging to the wreckage" and Hegseth responding "kill them"

This scenario just doesn't mentally fit with the military I was in for 20 years

Hegseth is a psycho. It's completely believable. I also don't know if it actually happened ... but it's entirely believable that he would give the order.

And look around you ... all the MAGAts are assuming it's true and cheering it on. That's where we are right now.

Have you paid attention to one of his press conferences? Sounds exactly like him…but he doesn’t represent the military.

What if you found out that an admiral resigned rather than carry out the orders, then a month after they were carried out by someone else, the one who did follow through was promoted.

I continually keep saying “if it happened as reported” so just want your opinion if that is indeed the case. I realize you’re skeptical. Fine. You are allowed to be. But IF it happened exactly like it has been reported, do you agree it is akin to murder? Not “I’m not a fan”. That’s a policy disagreement. I’m saying, should sending a missile to kill remaining passengers floating on wreckage be illegal?

It's not the military you were in for 20 years. It's run by a far right Christian nationalist now.

I would say if someone gave an order to kill survivors/passengers floating on wreckage would be illegal.

But I don't know how or what was reported other than what I read on here as Hegsth ordered that survivors be killed.

I mean, same. But we can only comment on what has been reported, and so far the most transparent administration in history has offered zero details.

To add here is an excerpt from the DoD handbook:
View attachment 1041368
again, not a fan of shooting at unarmed people fighting for their lives. But also again, it seems as if you're quoting law of war data which may or may not apply to terrorists. Also, I readily admit, I was in the Army for 20 years, attended the Naval War college (yea, they have cross education for officers) and I have never been made aware of this particular DoD handbook item.

But I can comment on Army training, and killing unarmed people who pose no threat is not acceptable.

But, as you correctly point out, none of this has been confirmed by the administration. But, Hegseth has denied the claim, not that I believe him either.

That’s cool on the Naval War College. My grandpa went to the National War College (he was Army, artillery) and always spoke highly of it. It was the interagency one.

you get a really great education, not only in the strategy and tactics of naval warfare, but what was more important for my career, the strategy of warfare and the business side of the military.

Of course a year in Newport, Rhode Island wasn't bad either. The military was a great career, shame it's mainly a young man's game :)

Depends on orders in my opinion

If the mission was complete annihilating drug boat then I would say mission accomplished when boat stopped with no survivors

Have ZERO SYMPATHY FOR DRUG RUNNERS

KILL THEM ALL IN TARGETED ATTACKS

THAT WILL DISSUADE DRUG RUNNERS

UNLIKE YOU I NEVER HAVE EVEN HAD A THOUGHT ABOUT ABUSING OR MISTREATING MY DAUGHTER OR SON

Or any child

I think that you are much to fixated on sexual deviance and you may need to consider mental health counseling to address your unhealthy obsession with fantasizing on pedophilia and incest

Find a good mental health provider and if you cannot afford one consider attending church and have conversations with a minister to again address your deviance from the norm

I will pray that God and Man can help you get the help you need

problem with the law is that everyone gets to interpret what it means. Don't agree? just look at the circuit court decisions overturned by appeals courts in all the Trump cases. Same law, different interpretation.

Also PalmettoTiger1 ...

Very high complement in my opinion

Speaks to Trumps very good taste in women

He is saying his daughter is top shelf

I like it

like he and I said not with our daughters

That's you, responding to tboonpickens posting a video of Trump saying "If Ivanka weren't my daughter, perhaps I'd be dating her."

"Dating" obviously also means banging.

You endorsed him thinking about and stating aloud that he'd be banging her if she weren't his daughter. Then you equated you and Trump ... "like he and I said not with our daughters." Thereby attaching yourself to his sentiment.

Now, a normal person ... someone who isn't sick in the head ... would NEVER talk about the potential for "dating" or banging, or anything romantic or sexual in any way ... with their daughter ... even if it's to say "I would if she WEREN'T my daughter." Because that still implies you thought about it and came to the conclusion you WOULD. You know, if she weren't your daughter.

That's insanity. That's disgusting.

So, did you, like Trump, have thoughts about dating/banging your daughter, assuming she wasn't your daughter?
