I'll be honest I never expected us to play the way we did last night. In all honesty I believed we would keep it close for about 1 1/2 quarters and then the game would get out of hand but boy was I glad I was wrong. From the first play of the game we played with emotion that I haven't seen in a while we played with an attitude that I didn't think this team could show. We played physical and threw the first punch instead of reacting to the other team throwing the first punch. I am a big rettig fan but I am even more of a Rutgers fan and I just want the players on the field that gives us the best chance to win each week and laviano showed that he can lead this team so no complaint there. As far a flood goes I don't think that he is the long term coaching solution for us but for the time being he is the best that we can get due to our financial situation, he had just as much to do with this performance as anyone since he coaches Sunday- Friday so for now I think flood will coach the rest of his contract. I don't know if it's just the day after emotions of a great performance against a top 5 team but I like the resiliency this team has showed this year and I do expect a 6-6 record. Time to move onto Indiana and hopefully we will see the same type of effort. Aside from ohio state and probably Michigan the rest of the teams we play are very very beatable. It's crunch time so let's see what this team is made of as Dabo Sweeney said its BYOG time Bring your own guts time!

Flood has to go (Period). He is a respected leader of this program.

Yes I agree with you. He is not a long term solution and I didn't think that when he was named the coach. But we just don't have the resources right now to get much better. At some point we will get a bigger named coach but right now I just don't see us landing a better option. But I agree at some point in the future we will need to upgrade.

I'm not in the "Flood must go" camp or the "Keep Flood" camp. I think the balance of the season will settle that.
HOWEVER, the alternatives to Flood that I've seen mentioned on this board are laughable.
And Schiano is not coming back here.

Exactly my point. He will be our coach until we have the money to do better. But until then I want to see our team play with the attitude that we played with last night.

I'd feel much better if Greg was brought back.

I truly think the program is on the cusp of really breaking out into a powerhouse.

We just need a better recruiter and figurehead as HC even though I think Flood gets too much blame.

Yes I feel the same way. As a program we are close to breaking out. If the idiots who's names I won't mention didn't do what they did before the season we probably win last night. But I'm not going to get into the whole if then game. The way flood is successful as a head coach is he needs to surround himself with a great supporting cast of assistants. I think Rossi took a step in the right direction last night and I look forward to seeing if that continues the rest of the year. McDaniels has been ok but not great this year but that is expected from a first year OC. Let's see how the rest of the year plays out.
