SD State defending national champ at 133 entered the transfer portal. That does not mean he will transfer but he can, probably as a grad student most likely. How about thi—we get him and Nicky redshirts and comes back the following year as a senior. We can dream right?

He and AA became friends in Asia last summer. Also he will have a hard time making 133 next year. Never can tell.

He’s following his former coach to Wisconsin. Nothing to see here.

We need to land a blue chip. Get Suriano to finals and Ashnault his title and transition him to the staff and start to recruit baby!

The guys on the Flo podcast yesterday said the same thing (following his prior coach Chris Bono to Wisconsin, Bono was recently at S Dakota St), they went on to say the plan was probably in the works previous to the start of this season, which is why he took a medical year. They said the his current school, S Dakota St, might be so pissed, they won't sign off, if I heard them correctly.

Gross started w Iowa , had some issues, then transferred to S Dakota St. Bono wrestled at Iowa St.

I would think this is very accurate. Gross could not transfer with Bono, since he already had one D1 to D1 transfer(he would have had to sit, which would have burned his last year). He is now a graduate, so he can transfer to another D1 school without sitting.

South Dakota st would need to sign off though still even as a grad transfer.

I heard there is a possible NCAA violation coming against Bono for tampering with the Gross transfer. Maybe he's not heading to Wisconsin.

that would be great. Is the idea 141 if he came here? More is it thouhgt he can compete at 141 at an elite level?

Not in question at all. He bumped up to 141 last year to wrestle Bryce Merideth who was ranked #1 at the time, at 141. He wrestled him competitively, it was a close match.

What IS in question, is whether or not hes going to Wisconsin and if not, does he have any interest in RU.

South Dakota State went from

2017-18 ....14-2-0 Chris Bono 7 NCAA Qualifiers, 3 All-Americans, 1 NCAA Champion

to 2018-19 ...Damion Hahn 3-10 and 1 NCAA Qualifier (0-2 Zero NCAA points)...SDS Returning National Champ decides not to compete

Have to think SDS and Hahn will try to block Gross to Wisconsin especially if Wisconsin was in contact with Gross this season.

So Rivera transferring is now a rumor? And we think he would sit out a year and transfer here? Or are you talking about Johnny Sebastian?

Rivera is not transferring. He will get his degree from NW next Spring. He is very happy there.

And what happens if he somehow gets his degree this semester, does a grad transfer, and doesn’t have to sit out? Not sure if that’s in the cards, but that would give him two years at his next school and he could get his masters.

You bring up an interesting scenario, it would require someone graduating in 3 years.

Not me-- Johnny Sebastian graduated and will get a masters in June. Free to go anywhere
Sebastian Rivera-will graduate well before next spring----TBD where or what he does.
I didnt get anything mixed up and I wasnt presenting anything as even a rumor, just saying some people mentioned him in terms of transferring though unclear if was anything beyond a joke. My point was simply how great it would be if somehow our lineup 25-41 is all of a sudden rivera nick and seth. It would certainly change the season outlook quickly. Just gross would change the season outlook quickly.

From what I was told Rivera will graduate this summer(Northwestern is on the Quarter semester system, which allows more credits per year). So he will graduate this year(of course if what I was told is true). Whether he leaves or not, that is the big question.

I will say(and posted it months ago with a emoji when someone mentioned transfers), I do think RU will have 2-3 transfers join the team. Hey at least it will be a fun off-season talking about wrestling!!

Don't some people just enter graduate school at the same school though and continue to wrestle?

If so, then, no, he won't need to transfer.
