More importantly, the greatest Offensive lineman of all time is probable
One thing that sticks out to me is that the names of our players sound like football players.
I’m not sure not sure what kind of names Mizzou is putting out there, but there’s no way “Beau Pribula” or “Langden Kitchen” is really a football player.
Isaac Smith? Jett Jefferson? Those mother17ers play football.
It’s definitely a big deal for our OL. It gives me a little hope that we can keep Shapen protected enough to score some points.
With is out we're likely going to have to throw it to keep up. If KT is starting, yeah we'll be running either way
I actually think Shapen’s name Is like the third most important name on that report.
Isaac being out really stinks, and the fact that he was immediately ruled out makes me worry he’s done for the year. That’s potentially a huge deal for a defense that’s been struggling the last couple of games.
Reese possibly being available would be a big positive, IMO. We need all the help we can get on the OL and he is our best guy. And our best offensive games of the year have been when he played.

While Issac is leader of the defense, Tony Mitchell does a good job when he is in there. A lot of fans wanted KT to start but I’m okay with either one. There isn’t a QB controversy because Lebby has let it be known that barring an injury , Shapen is the starter. Reese being back is the most news worthy. It’s crazy that an Offensive Lineman is the MVP to this offense.
Especially the second half of the Texas game. Up three scores and had negative (-31) yards rushing that half. This guy is the most overhyped lineman on this board I’ve ever seen. Btw, separate question: Who’s more injury prone, Shapen or Reese?

I was actually hoping we’d get to see KT start with Mizzou knowing about it. We’d finally get to see what all of you wanted (which is essentially another game like Arkansas 2023). except Mizzou winning.

That’s a great theory, and who knows, there may be some truth to it.
But here’s another one. We’re about to play the best passing defense we’ve played all year, on the road, with an O line that can’t protect and apparently a banged up QB that we know can’t escape pressure even on a good day. KT may not be the messiah to lead us to victory Saturday night, but the above scenario doesn’t have a prayer
Comparing KT to Mike Wright is quite the take.
I have never been one of these guys who always believes the backup is better. If we could protect Shapens, I think he is prolly the better option. Since we can’t protect him (at least recently) KT puts much more pressure on that D because of his running ability. That being said, he will need to be able to complete 50 plus percent of his passes to keep them honest.
First off, Missouri has scored 10 and 17 points since Pribula went down. I wouldn’t expect our defense to be able to hold them to either of those numbers, but this won’t be a shootout. 20-27 points may win this game.
Second, I’ve seen KT’s poor throws just like the rest of you, but some of yall are acting like he doesn’t have arms. Small sample size or not, his completion % is 58% vs Shapen’s 65%. Out of 20 passes, Shapen is completing 1-2 more that for all we know may be swing passes for a 2 yard gain on 3rd and 7.
What I also see is that KT has zero sacks, zero INTs, and zero fumbles. How does that compare to Shapen?
This isn’t a rundabawl obsession. This is recognizing that what little chance we may have to win on Saturday starts and ends with a QB that can handle pressure, and that ain’t Shapen

The tie breaker for the score prediction this week should be number of sacks on Shapen.
I doubt anyone in our fanbase believes that Blake Shapen is more talented than Kamario Taylor. The only advantage that Shapen offers is experience and understanding of the offense. However, Shapen has struggled after going through the early scripted plays. He's done a great job running the first series in some tough SEC games. Once he gets to RPO downs he has made some bad decisions or the OL has failed him.
I would continue to use Shapen on initial drives of each half and then bring KT in because we know what happens after the initial drives. What is going on that makes the initial drives successful? Is it because the OL knows exactly what to do on each play and execute better than when audibles are called? Maybe defenses know our audible sequence? When there are breakdowns Shapen lacks the mobility to respond.
I don’t hate this idea at all. I mean, what do we really have to lose at this point?
This is what I see too. He will be the man next year and hopefully fully ready. But he's not just yet, which is what Lebby has been saying. I know some people are clamoring for KT because he has had a few really good runs and couple of throws, but this is textbook Backup QB Syndrome by the fans, which is natural. Shapen will start, and I will hope for the best. When he's good (fully healthy) we are a very competent offense. So let's hope for that.
If he goes down, then we are where we were last year - suffering through the growing pains of a freshman QB in real time. (Yes KT is special, but he's still a freshman and will make mistakes.) And we really need to win at least 1 more this year. This Saturday is critical.
We run the RPO so much in this offense, that's not true. They're running the same stuff, one is just a better athlete and one is more accurate on short passes. Shapen is Will but with a better arm. Same fragile statue of a QB who misses too many deep balls but his completion percentage is high.
He won’t maintain that in a full game. We got him some really easy passes nehimd the LOS down by 30 in that Georgia game.
But if he’s playing he’s no longer the backup. Are we still happy or do we start bitching about whomever was initially third but moved up to backup and by rights becomes the best player on our team?
Matt Wyatt on radio right now: “maybe if we play this Ol this weekend and can’t block them up front you should put the guy back there that can move around a little bit. It’s not as much a quarterback decision as it is an OL decision.” But what does he know.
