Looks like Burns and Shelby will be 4a, Crest 5a and kings mtn 6a. That's the last projections I saw.

I would love to see the county schools in one conference. When was the last time that happened? Back in the 80s before Crest went 4a?
No it was the second incarnation of the SMAC 2A/3A with Rutherford County, East Burke and Draughn. Cam was quarterback the last three years of that conference.
Got a feeling Shelby and Burns will be in one con together and Crest/KM in another.
If history repeats and it makes sense, it will not happen. After thinking Burns and Shelby should be with 1A schools I have zero faith.
I think we could see Burns and Crest together this cycle. After that who knows. Could go north or east for the rest.
I like the numbers and predictions (proposals) @GrizzlyDevil does and his proposed conference had a split conference using the big 32 model. ...

I don't know what all was discussed in this thread regarding alignment and so on, but the 35 page 8 classification "Big 32" scenario proposal I sent to our area's representative had the following (I'll make it brief, if any wants more detail, I can give it, also, this was more of a guideline for how to navigate it more than what it'll be because no one has all the ADM's yet):
3A West Shelby (3rd largest 3A) - could very easily be 4A with new ADMS
4A West Burns (8th largest 4A) - should be 4A no problem
3A/4A West Conference 11

Lincolnton
Lincoln Charter
Piedmont Community (non-football)
4A Burns
4A East Gaston
4A Stuart Cramer

We'll see how the ADM's fall, but my latest proposal based off last year's ADM's was this.
I'll re-draw it all up once this year's ADM's drop. What is going to take them months to do I'll get done in 2 days tops.
Rumblings of Catholic being in that con as a 6A. Would be a better new and improved Big South with Catholic replacing Cramer.
Yeah rumblings will get louder. Principals, Coaches, and ADs are teaming up to push what they want to their representatives.
I'm hearing there is a big push here for an all-catawba county conference...I just don’t see it happening over 3 classifications...the Board will avoid 3 class conferences at all costs.
I've also heard about a push happening to bring back the old SD7. Again, I don't see how they would put Maiden in a conference with no other catawba county schools...but they could.
HSOT probably is going to have an influence...I think more than what most people would expect...and they had Maiden in with Shelby/Burns.

That would be a good conference. There is some range there with some natural bottom feeders. Also paired with teams that can be good any given year and some teams that are really good.
I didn't think Crest and Burns were even close to the same enrollment numbers? And I haven't heard of Shelby being in 4A either.
Last year Burns was at 913 and Crest was at 1095. You have to believe those numbers are going to be similar this year. It really just depends on the cutoff.

I know Maiden's ADM dropped by 40 since last year. Big swings can happen for schools on the classification border.
In current 8 class breakdown, a 40 kid drop could potentially change 17 schools from 4A to 3A.
Yeah..it all depends on the cut-off line. Grizz does great with the numbers and potentials. Maybe we can get him to pull a few of his potential cut-offs for the different classifications.
Another thing regarding numbers is that West Charlotte is currently just under 2200 right now. I wouldn't be surprised if their 20 day number is 2300.

Congrats Shelby. I didn't think a either team looked great. We just don't have a QB this year. Good luck to Shelby in the playoffs.
Me and Bulldog02 were texting back and forth during the game and I was like "two td passes on fourth down:" COME ON MAN........ ha ha
Rough game to watch. Both teams have some work to do but to their credit our conference didn’t expose much. Turnovers and Penalties were the story of the game for the most part. Credit to Shelby, they did well against our run game most of the game. We found some things on that left side but I think they switched #53 over there and that helped.
One more note. Field position. Special teams did us zero favors. Kicking it out of bounds on the kickoff and punting was just terrible.

We did well against the run, just hate giving up those 4th down long plays.

Good game by two good teams. Line didn’t block well tonight but you can also credit Shelby. Burns found some running lanes but didn’t throw the ball enough and seemed to only throw it when they had to. Play calling has to get better. Burns had too many penalties and a running team can’t get behind the chains. I could be wrong and please correct me if I am but I don’t remember but two Shelby penalties. I saw a few offsides and holds that weren’t called but that could go both ways. Bottom line is Burns can’t afford to commit penalties like tonight. Burns did a great job bottling up the run as did Shelby. Sloppy game but both teams haven’t played anyone in 6 weeks. Both teams have a chance to do well in the playoffs and wish them both luck.
I agree, special teams for Burns was terrible tonight. The other games I saw earlier this year were the same, bad special teams.
Cant get a penalty on Shelby when we score that is marked off on the kickoff just to kick it out of bounds again. Shelby had extremely good field position all night but that Shelby punter booted one 60 yards and completely flipped the field on us because we had nobody back to field it.
Kids on both teams played really hard and it was a good hard fought high school football game to watch. Hopefully with the week off both teams can get ready for the playoffs and have some success.Good luck to the Bulldogs.
Qb for Burns is tough kid, but he had to be hurting today..
Shelby punished him all night....he took some shots i didnt think he would come back in game, but he did..

He was limping some before the game and I know he had a knee brace during baseball so I would imagine he is trying to be careful not to re-injure himself. He had to be tough because he is a running QB with fullback size. He is going to take shots and he did. This week off will help all of us get healthier. The playoffs should be interesting.
