Don't Quit
by
John Greenleaf Whittier

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is strange with its twists and turns
As every one of us sometimes learns
And many a failure comes about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow—
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out—
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell just how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit—
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

So it’s not COVID related. I hate to hear this. Will be interesting to see how the unexpected bye week affects Shelby in the playoffs. I think they’ll be fine. It might not be the best news for Shelby’s opponent.

Is anyone really surprised? This is the mindset of kids today. Has any local school ever not fielded a team due to low numbers? Could this happen at east next season ?

What a shame!

Like I said in an earlier post I was told if changes were not made to the staff that east would not have enough kids to play next year ...... that’s looking even more so now than a few weeks ago.

That’s a shame. School has athletes based on their baseball and basketball success and a decent tradition. Some of the talent flowing to TJCA?

I just got done talking to a kid and he said that they were just done with everything ... the entire thing all together. It’s his senior year and that a heck of a way to finish your football career for life. Athletes.... yeah east has always had great athletes but they have been waisted IMHO Just look at the kids that have left for Shelby and Crest ... they were used the right way and very helpful to the team. I feel like East had a great opportunity to hire a coach get out of the “good ol boy” deal but they didn’t.

In the thread “2A ranking Week 7”, Wiz says football is not a mathematical game. Evidently he knows so we won’t be able to do the math.

By the way, I read an article today that says some Einstein in California had decided that math is racist. Why, you may ask. Because it requires one correct answer. How can you argue with logic like that.

What's not racist now a days? Seriously. It's the go to term for anything you dislike or disagree with

Back when Coach Cash was there you knew they were bringing it. Now he’s at Thomas Jefferson so do the math.
I would be curious as to the breakdown of the TJ players, in other words what are the schools they would be attending. I would surmise based on geography mostly Rutherford and a few Cleveland. Some kid from there is a big time D1 recruit and i was thinking what school let him get away.

I think that kid is from Polk County. They have a few from over at Polk County. A few from SC as well. The school is in a good location to draw from Rutherford, Cleveland, Polk, and SC.

Dakota Twitty. He is 6'3 WR so I can imagine what he must look like running against the charters schools.

Yeah Dakota’s dad was a amazing player at Polk and in college. I would say mostly TJ is Rutherford kids with a few additions from surrounding counties. A few years ago east had Grant Logan then he moved to TJ and now is at providence day. Rutherford co lost a very good QB It’s all a mess really ...... DRAMA LOL

WE will be dealing with it locally when Pinnacle here in Cleveland County gets a football team.
