100% correctHe has the body and the athleticism. But he has to find a way to score besides dunks. Any type of post game, post moves, will shoot him up the rankings. More so than shooting jumpers and threes. That was a waste of time last off-season it was worth what maybe 5 threes this year? instead he should be working on putting the ball through the hoop from 5 feet away/his hook shot
Exactly and it only focused on the NBA instead of the G league. Not sure how seriously to take the article. It calls Edey a likely 1st round pick. That’s uhhhh…not accurate
Exactly. Cliff leaving would be to get him in the G league to be developedExactly and it only focused on the NBA instead of the G league.
If anything it was a piss poor article just to get something out there because the writer monitors this board and had watched the debates here all season.
The new rules can also deplete your roster as we’ve seen. Very dumb argument by op
Not in his case. With a stand out college season next year there’d still be hope for him elevating himself to late first round status. He has the athleticism that hold back many good college bigs. That’d be big money, plus with us playing oversees this summer there’s probably a channel for earning potential for him via RU.I'd love for him to stay. But if I'm his advisor I tell him to go pro if he can get a G-League contract and make basketball his fulltime job in service to the goal of scoring NBA riches. Whatever improvement would happen here, 2X that much will happen if he goes pro because he'll be playing 2X more basketball.
G League is not an automatic thing. You don’t just say hey can I play? Those guys are low draft picks mostly or guys reviving a career. Cliffs not there. This isn’t a “training” league like many of you think.Exactly. Cliff leaving would be to get him in the G league to be developed
Well yea, but the thought is his physical tools alone will get him there. I believe that to be true.G League is not an automatic thing. You don’t just say hey can I play? Yup - I hope he stays, but if playing in the NBA is his #1 goal, it's unlikely either way, but the sooner he gets to the G-League the better for him.I'd love for him to stay. I'm sure some more knowledgeable people will chime in here, but I believe his NIL status is an issue because he's on a visa?Anyone know what his NIL payout is?
If he transferred to Iowa for one year his offensive #s would jump a bunch.
Fran specializes in creating all big ten/all Americans and getting those stars drafted like Wieskamp Garza and Murray bros.
How bout a trade?
Starting PG Ulis and young center Mulvey for Clifford?
Kidding.
Because of his visa status, he is not eligible to receive NIL money personally. He reportedly donated his $25,000 NIL stipend to the salvation army in Newark,I'm sure some more knowledgeable people will chime in here, but I believe his NIL status is an issue because he's on a visa?
Thought I read on here somewhere that he can't earn NIL in the US.
Can someone please confirm?
He can only earn NIL outside of the US, like on the planned road trip this summer.I'm sure some more knowledgeable people will chime in here, but I believe his NIL status is an issue because he's on a visa?

And even if you do well in the G-league you don’t get a guaranteed contract. For that to happen you then have to actually produce in the NBA. The only way to get the locked in contract is through the draft. Still a much higher probability of having a banner senior year in college and getting picked up in the draft.G League is not an automatic thing. You don’t just say hey can I play? Those guys are low draft picks mostly or guys reviving a career. Cliffs not there. This isn’t a “training” league like many of you think.
I think he can do so much with one hand that it hurts him. So many times I see a loss of the ball around him where if he had 2 hands on it.. it would have helped.. a lot. Rebounds, catching a pass.. throwing a pass... some challenged jams (2 hands would have meant an imminent foul call rather than assuming a clean block was made).Hands … he needs to work on his hands … that includes ball handling and both catching and making passes. He has the athleticism, defensive skills, and will improve shooting. It’s the hands!
You're not being to tough. I don't even think his defense is above average. Can rebound, and block shots, but his post defense is almost non-existent.I just don't see it with Cliff, and while his improvement here at Rutgers has been real, it has been only marginally significant. How many of those sort of sky hooks from the baseline must he have practiced over the past few years. Still he has zero touch on them, frequently missing badly and probably hitting on something like 10%. If he can't dunk he is a poor finisher around the rim. Defensively, I think he is above average but far from elite. Just about everyone else seems to have a higher assessment of Cliff, so I acknowledge that maybe I'm just being too tough on the kid.
