They keep messing mith the current bats now. Why not just go with what the pros use and be done with it.

According to Cohen, it'll never happen due to limitef supply. There's not enough quality wood to supply all the teams. The MLB teams would get the best wood, followed by their minor league franchises (AAA, AA, high A, low A, rookie ball, winter league, etc). After that, only a handful of the top tier college teams would get respectable wood. Lesser programs like Valley, Se. Louisiana, etc would literally get cleaned up tree limbs.

Can you imagine how many bats Stratton would break a game? Or how many our "hitters" would break a game?

I don't buy the supply argument. In the 1970s there was no problem supplying wood bats to all levels of the sport. In those days we only had the two major makers and they only used the White Ash. I had some very good wood, and some not too good, when I was still using wood bats in those days. Now they have Maple and Birch bats and are experimenting with Bamboo, and Laminates. So once the rule is passed, the manufacturers will up production.

The reason I have supported this idea is because I think it might get a few more better players to choose a college path instead of a minor league path. I am sure it is still an issue to major league scouts that Aluminum to Wood adjustment. So if colleges used wood they can better sell they are just as good a path to MLB as the minor leagues are.

have to meet ...... they will give you affordable wooden bats that will perform. Before anyone flames out.....I DON`T LIKE IT EITHER....but you can bet your *** they would get it done and they have access to more wood than we would ever dream off.
