not to be disagreeable, but Jesus also spoke the parable about the landowner with 3 servants. he gave one 3 talents, the second 2 and the 3rd just one...skipping to the end, the servant with one buried it, earned nothing and if you recall was thrown weeping and knashing into the night.Jesus often said the meek would not inherit the earth and should be **** on so we can give billionaires tax breaks.
now, what I took from that was that we should make use of our talents (play on words) and not just take from the landowner.
Coming back to the new law...I agree 100% that we have people among us who really need help through no fault of their own. I also see people who need help because of poor choices they have made or circumstances they created. We should have a system where there is someone, a live person who can sort through the BS and decide who fits into which category. But the system is too big for that. For the first group the decision is a no brainer. For me, so is the second, but we can't just cut off people cold turkey. There needs to be some form of counseling and a timeframe for benefit reductions.
Again IMO states are closer to the problems and likely the solutions and if they want to fund Medicaid over and above the federal program, they should be able to.
