Not sure about BurlCo, but Cumberland County farms regularly sell for about $30,000/acre. Typical farm is 50-150 acres.any one have a ball park on $/acre in south jersey (burlington county)? sounds like it might be the time to grab some land.

Your exactly right with the paper work. We have a small farm down here in Howell and do everything organic. The paper work and years you have to wait is ridiculous we finally gave up. My wife makes me do organic and it's a pain in the ***. She goes as far as not allowing me to use any pressure treated wood. I have now become an entomologist as I know what to spray when as each organic remedy only prevents one bug from damaging your fruit trees and vegetables. Then weeding each week sucks. Also organic produce looks a little funky without all those chemicals and wax coatings some people get it, others think pretty looking makes it good and chemical free. But for us it's a hobby we lose money and both of us have our own jobs. That's why I cringe when people complain about Farm Assessment. Sure people like Bon Jovi with his two donkey's are taking advantage but I'm losing money here. The problem,at least here in NJ , is that becoming "ceritfied organic" requires reams of paperwork and a lot of fees. I've talked to a lot of the farmers at the local farmers markets, West Windsor one in particular. While a lot of them are not certified organic they farm organic. One of the vendors inWW even uses elephant poop she gets from Great Adventure as her fertilizer.
Yes, it would be much better if we were a socialist country. The farm stand would still be open (of course, the downside is that there would be no produce for sale, but you can't have everything).Another victory for the free market.
Absolutely nothing wrong with being a greedy douchbag if that means maximizing profit on property you own. And you can bet your balls I support the Piscataway farmers who were forced off their land for no other reason than the township wanted it. Those officials who did it should have been tarred, feathered and lighted up. Tyrants. There's a fine line between trying to get an honest dollar for your property and being a greedy douchbag. I think with respect to this story its the latter. You were probably Halper fan given your handle and your comments in this thread.
