Usually love his stuff, but I'm a little miffed at the rankings in all classifications. MP ahead of Chambers? Cleveland ahead of Butler, Hough, Rolesville, Richmond? New Bern was one game away from the 4A Title, and they're #31? It will all sort itself out, of course.

And going by SOS...where's Creek? I sense some personal influence in this 1.

Not too bothered by this. Simmon's algorithm is pretty good but it needs data. I feel sorry for him before week one and two because he doesn't have any. Right now, everyone is undefeated and a lot of pretenders have their path already mapped to the state championship game. By week 4, most of the pretenders have been flushed and their posters are reduced to taking potshots at somebody else's team. 4A is deep this year. A lot of big matchups scheduled during the season including OOC games. If a top team shows up with their B game one night, they will go home with an "L." Throw in the potential Covid factor and I wouldn't be surprised if a 2 or perhaps even 3 loss team catches fire at the end of this season and takes the whole thing. More than in any other year, 2021 will be about matchups and who is peaking when it counts. The cream will ultimately rise.

The early rankings definitely appear to be strength of schedule. And to be honest I think that first five could probably lose a couple games early and still stay in the top five. If it’s by strength of schedule.

Cream will rise, no doubt.
