just walking thru the parking lot here at the hilton in jackson and saw a south panola vanity plate. Did I miss something here?
That's what it took for Ocean Springs anyway.8Dog said:if they get 200 signatures or something like that.
fairweatherfan said:hell in a hand basket. I've never been to a game but the way it was explained to me is that they don't keep score. Nobody wins, therefore we all lose. I liken Upward Sports to the mortgage meltdown. No one takes responsibility for their own ****. No one is allowed to fail. Horse ****.
patdog said:Because Upward Basketball (and soccer) is HUGE with them. A friend of mine's son went out for his HS soccer team as a 9th grader this past year. He'd never played any soccer in his life except Upward Soccer, so naturally he never played except in blowouts. She told me that one day he said to her, "Momma, all that coach wants to do is win." I just laughed and said, "Yeah, that's kind of his JOB."
And with NASCAR fans....what a dumb"sport".farley662 wrote: The "In Memory of" stickers piss me off

I've never understood having some dead persons name and when they died on your rear window. Seems to be popular with folks in Water Valley and Saltiller.
Agentdog said:Upward is a sports league run by churches. Like it is mentioned, they de-emphasize winning to focus more on fellowship and having fun. The whole purpose is to bring in children and parents (who other wise would not come to church) to learn about Jesus Christ. At my church, the score isn't kept on a score board. However, the kids, coaches, and parents know who won or lost. Upward is to be a mission to the communties not a development league. It is a good thing the church is doing because fewer and fewer parents are taking kids to church.
Also, most of the kids playing, are K- 3rd grade....at least where I am. So, the no-score thing is no big deal to me. But I understand the point of competition too. I agree the kids now-a-days are pampered. However, it isn't just Upward. Most city "rec" leagues have parents that are not interested in practicing, only showing up for games when it is convenient, and so on. I have seen first hand why "over zealous parents" (according to some) have to form "traveling" teams.
Don't you realize that this church league is destroying America?
MadDawg said:Upward sports is church-league sports. Who gives a crap what rules they follow. It's forkids that will never play competitive sports, so why does it upset you so much?
