but not necassarily impossible. It'll be interesting to see if the NCAA makes him take it again.

but it could be figured that he had not made the minimum required,
so 18 or below, or something like that.

He had a passing score but not good enough to get in UGA (if memory serves). He had a pretty good jump (good enough to get in UGA), and it was not allowed (our gain).

Chaney was going to go to UGA and didn't qualify, then I believe he qualified and they pulled his offer because they believed it to be fishy. Not uncommon. This would be the same issue Singleton might have had if he had taken the ACT twice before he signed a LOI with two completely different scores (ex: 16 and 24)...... except UM would have probably left the offer on the table. Even cheaters need heppin'.

Or at least, I don't remember a jump being the problem. It was more of a comparison to his GPA, etc. According to this article from his recruitment days: http://florida.scout.com/2/384765.html

"<span class="storybody">He scored a 1260 on his SAT but the Georgia
admissions department thought he scored far higher than a 2.9 GPA
should. Chaney had also taken the ACT on which he scored a 17. The
combination of ACT and GPA were high enough to gain admission to Georgia
but the Georgia admissions people were stuck on that SAT score. He was
told this past week that he's been denied admission."

UGA had a point, for what it's worth. A 1290 on the SAT the year he came out is 88th percentile. This year on the ACT (can't find 2005), a 17 was 33rd percentile.

they will drag their feet for a little while and then clear him. It's what they always do.

Chaney's qualifying score answers were identical to those of the person seated next to him.

Thank you, Georgia.
