It seems to me that all of this hoopla and hysteria could've been avoided had the recruiting sites made it known that Jones planned to visit Ole Miss. If he actually told the coaches a week or two ago that he was visiting us, I think some way, somehow it would've gotten out.
Conner is in a position similar to Jones. He's a player we covet from a pro-Ole Miss city (just like Jones and Houston for y'all) that has been somewhat of a pipeline for us over the years. His cousin is now a coach at MSU. It's a pretty safe bet that his visit to MSU next week could swing the momentum MSU's way. In spite of that, he set up his visit with MSU 10 days ago and best I can tell, there's been no effort to keep the visit a secret.
Here's what I don't get. Looking at how each fan base found out about both visits, why was Jones' visit to Oxford seemingly shrouded in such secrecy? Yancy hinted at a mystery recruit for a full week, and that idiot has never been able to keep a secret. Yet, he managed to keep this one. Y'all were under the impression he was going to be recruiting in Starkville. And that whole time Jones set up an official with us and told no one.
The contrast between the last week for both of them just seems a bit odd.
