Purdue’s team is really weak individually outside Edey but it’s comical how many WIDE OPEN 3s they get because of him.

last time edey was in foul trouble but we raked down on him like mad men and it disrupted his rhythm big time. We need to do this again but don’t think the refs will call many fouls on him since they will want purdue advancing to lock up a 1 seed. We will need to be much better than them tomorrow to win

The key for Rutgers is keeping Cliff out of foul trouble...It's been probably at least 5-6 weeks since we had a really good shooting game. We are due to have a game where we shoot lights out . Why not tomorrow?

I like how we match up with their perimeter guards Braden Smith, Fletcher Loyer and Ethan Morton.

Mulcahy, Spencer and Simpson have to get downhill and score in the paint or force Edney to leave Cliff to come help.

Spencer also needs to be a snipper from outside. None of the Purdue guards are athletic enough to stop him from getting shots up.

I'm on the opposite side of the fence, don't try to win the game and get Caleb and Paul lots of rest and treatment. They have nothing left to prove. Likely a 10 seed if they win the whole thing an 8. Maybe a 7 if they get lucky with other results.

The recipe for success against Purdue is pressure their young guards.

I have depth concerns on this one, but I think we have a slight mental edge over them

Never! Always play the game to win. There will be plenty of time to rest in April

This is complete nonsense. You don't tank a tournament game.

Greetings Scarlett Knights! Boiler fan stopping by, hope you don't mind

Congrats on the win yesterday and also a fine season despite the big loss of Mag...nice resiliency shown by your team! Obviously no Boiler fans (with a brain at least) take RU lightly, especially with how close the past couple years of games have been, and with the Knights putting a knife through the Boiler's hearts with a couple of last second, game winning buckets. Ugh!

Saw it mentioned that Purdue has been ice cold from 3 point basically since Feb. Some signs of life though. Of the two Freshmen starting guards, PG Braden Smith has been shooting ok, but yes, SG Fletcher Loyer is really struggling to find his shot and the talk has been that he's been trying to play through an injured calf muscle for 5+ weeks. He has not been the same player he was Nov-Jan. Love the guy, he's gonna be a good one (already is) but he's also been getting abused defensively, often discarded and thrown around like a rag doll. 3 point shooting from both of Purdue's 4s (Mason Gillis & Caleb Furst) has also been in the dumps during most of that cold stretch.

Of note, 6'5" G/F Brandon Newman has replaced 6'6" G/F Ethan Morton the past two games, which really injected some needed althleticism on the perimeter and has the ability to light it up from deep (but is also very streaky!). Newman had something like 19 points, 6 boards, 5 ast & 3 steals, Sunday vs Illinois. Morton has responded well to the swap, and shot better recently too.

The Knights style of play does indeed cause Purdue headaches and I expect this one to as well. Should be another extremely tough, grinder of a battle and I expect yet another close tilt, probably within 4-6 points - no matter who wins, likely to be decided in the final 5 minutes. Cheers to a great game, and obviously hopefully injury free for both

I'm hoping Purdue is looking far ahead to top NCAA seed. Doubt it, I think we will get a focused group today. Hope we hit some shots and have strong lock-down Defense today.

I thought yesterday's second half double on Hunter Dickenson provides the template for today against Edey. Dickenson has a better power dribble, so we should be effective whenever Edey puts the ball on the floor. Of course Edey does not have to put the ball on the floor and when he get the right pass he is nearly unstoppable. Frustrating that he can score in the teeth of the double team. Loyer has been off lately but he is just the kind of secondary scoring option that we don't defend well. If Caleb completely shuts him down and Cam and Paul ball hawk, I think we win. Big Guard University could make the difference against the Lilliputian guards from Purdue.

Of course you are on the opposite side of things. Most ridiculous post yet!

Would like to see some Paul initiating offense from the post
Rewatched our earlier game against them. They did not but alot of pressure on Paul up top and he was able to drive and dish. Teams clearly started to put extreme pressure on him after this and it for the most part has worked. Will be interesting to see how Purdue plays it today. Painter's defense is really predicated on giving teams long range 2's. Sagging back to prevent close 2's. If I were them I would press our guys high, but not their typical strategy.
