Don't blame the waitstaff for bad food, or a slow kitchen, etc. But forgetting you are there? Never bringing out silverware? Forgetting you asked for something? ********. A tip is supposed to be for good service. If you suck at waiting tables, find something else to do. Nobody owes you jack **** for nothing.

I agree. It's not my problem that you are working for someone that doesn't pay you. But if you are...all you have to do is a DECENT job of waiting and you will get a full tip. Or at least you will from me. I'm not asking for perfection, but don't 17 up my order because you're too busy flirting with another member of the waitstaff instead of paying attention, or ignore my table when the restaurant is pretty empty because you're 17ing around and laughing in the kitchen with the cooks, etc. Just do your job as a waiter and you will get tipped well by the majority. If you disagree with this, then you are probably a waiter that has a bad attitude or doesn't do a good job of servicing customers.

The whole "if you just show up you should get paid" ******** is what's wrong with this country. I don't expect my son to get a trophy when his team loses, and I don't expect him to get tips if he gives ****** service or has a terrible attitude. Period.

EXACTLY! Call me old school, but you get the tip you work for. Waiting tables ain't the only job out there. I normally tip 20%, but I've been known to do less if the person was crappy. Don't want to write my order down? Well, don't get pissed if your tip is not exactly right either! HUGE pet peeve. Don't want to act like I'm worth your time? Don't expect me to be happy and leave a happy tip. I know crap happens and people have off days, but being in sales, I know I'm not allowed do-overs so I have to go smile and act like I love each and every customer I interact with. Waiting is a sales job as well. I'm so sick of people expecting a tip for everything dang thing they do for customers. I don't get tipped. I don't expect to either. And don't give me crap about making less than minimum wage. Real sales jobs are the same: you get very low salaries and the comp comes in the form of the job one does. Same with waiting. Having said that, again, I tip 20% (or more if the person was great). Tips are given as an appreciation for service rendered, correct? Not a form of food service welfare. Bunch of bleeding hearts on here...

I go to a restaurant downtown Columbus weekly. Great bartenders who know their customers well. Was sitting there eating one night and there was a couple sitting down the bar from me. They were not caucasian. The female constantly demanded things that were not included with the meal. The bartender even had the kitchen mix a milder sauce for her wangs. In the end after a lot of "special care", the bastard left a $2 tip on a $70 check. I see that **** all the time with those type customers. They even treat their own like slaves.

About 10 years ago in a Starkville WH, my buddy and I came in after a long night. We decided to brown bag a bottle of cheap "Ancient Age" bourbon. We offered some to the waitress, she accepted, we made her a large stiff drink, and she filled our table with food. It was like Thanksgiving. Our bill was $2.50. I think we gave her a 100% tip...

reading comp

I went to the cash register planning to leave that after my order was completely wrong. Btw it was only me and two other dudes in there and they already had their food. So it wasn't like they screwed it up because they were busy.

I waited there and at Flo's. College kids in general tip ******, especially the frats if you're a dude waiter.
