A couple things one (not you) for those clamoring for Hartline he told Kraft if offered he would take the job. He has not been offered and IMO will not be. Lea would take the job because he's having trouble with negotiations on his contract with Vandy. As of this morning Brohm has slipped just a little on PS's side I do not know why since before he had warmed on PS. Drinkwitz is still right there but it seems that Key is a guy that Kraft really likes.
Key and Kraft have at least one tie: Key was hired by Geoff Collins at Tech, the same Geoff Collins once hired by Kraft at Temple.

I have heard the same about Hartline from several folks inside OSU. He is definitely looking to make the jump to being HC though people who know him think he is a couple of years away from being ready. OSU is also not stressed about him going out to get HC experience as Freeman and he are seen as HC heirs apparent to when Day moves on. Both would take it wherever they find themselves at the time.

Brohm slipping is disappointing as he would immediately bring in an offensive identity and be able to bring in top flight QB talent, which in turn would bring in top end skill players.

I can see Kraft's attraction to Key. At UCF he filled several positions on the coaching staff, but as a HC at GT he has not particularly done well outside of this year with Haynes King. But it is GT after all. I am sure he is a very skilled OLine coach, but you are not hiring a position coach. I, do, however like the culture he will bring and his ties to SE recruiting.
I don't understand Brohm slipping I just don't unless it's more to do with Key rising. However, Brohm will get his interview (today?) which may change things yet again.

You're not following this at all. Not once did I say "verbal agreement"
You're so fixated on "worst case scenario" you refuse to accept how reality works.
This would be like you being a doctor and me telling you that you're wrong about your speciality. You have no clue what you're talking about as someone else pointed out.
You’re right. Elko probably already signed. He will keep recruiting for A&M over the next 2+ months as hard as he can even though he’ll potentially coach against those same recruits when he’s at PSU. He might even suggest based on nothing that they visit central PA between now and February 4th. He’ll keep checking NCAA compliance, showing up to community events, following through with all his other responsibilities knowing he’ll be competing against that school in just a few weeks. Not a conflict of interest at all. He discussed all of this with A&M and they’re fine with it.

I really took notice of Key during there 8ot loss to Georgia last year. Was impressed how tough and competitive his team was against superior talent.

His teams can't throw the football. What? The past 3 years isn't enough for you and you need more of that? Key will make Hagan's and AK look like the 1984 Dolphins

They are 10th in total offense, 13th in rushing offense and 32nd in passing offense. Huh?

Again...where did I say he signed? You can't make valid arguments so you throw out nonsense.
Coaches sign contracts with other teams while finishing out a season with their current team all the time.

Even if there is something personal that is driving him back to the NE or away from A&M, there’s just no way Kraft is stupid enough to wait for him if A&M keeps winning.

What if they get to the championship game and then Elko “changes his mind”? Or A&M offers a huge new contract he can’t refuse? Or another school has a better offer? Then we’re f*cked.

For all anyone really knows, Elko’s people are talking to Penn State to drive up the price elsewhere. I know we have experts here that pay their $1.99 for the premium info, but I’m pretty sure nobody is close enough to both Kraft and Elko to really have any idea what’s really going on.
If Elko wants the PSU job but also wants to coach A&M until the end of their season, I'm sure there are binding agreements that can be made before A&M is done playing to serve as a temporary yet binding agreement with PSU until a full employment contract can be signed. Then if Elko has a sudden change of heart PSU at least gets something out of that arrangement, such as a monetary break up fee or something of that nature.

I am guessing anyone posting with they are hearing, actually knows anything. I have at least one very good connection within athletics and they don’t know crap. They said there are no loose lips right now and they normally hear things. Yet all sorts of people on the board are hearing…. 🤣
The vast majority of the people that speculate on the board aren't directly hearing a damn thing. Most are just reciting the stuff they see in other tweets, posts and maybe even content from premium boards. Maybe a very small handful have real sources that actually know something. The trick is interpreting the tea leaves to figure out who those people are.

He wants to win. If he thought he could be the best, he would come back. But if there's a chance he's going to embarrass himself again somehow, he won't chance it. Even at OSU in his last few years, every year they were laying 1 or 2 big eggs and he couldn't much handle it.
Urban cares about embarrassing himself? Wouldn't have guessed that based on the video from the bar with the gal that isn't his wife.

has anyone actually looked at the GA Tech Schedule? Good lord help us if we get that guy. He gonna get crushed by Pitt in a week or so. Same thing with Vandy, except the names might be impressive but LSU wasn't really LSU and Texas has been bad, bad.

Sure. But the issue with something being signed with PSU isn’t a PSU problem. It’s a problem for A&M. There’s no way he can fully serve A&M’s interests for the next 10 weeks while knowing he will soon be coaching against them.

I think it is less than a handful, like zero actually know something.

You realize there are millions of people that would also say, "who the hell wants to live in the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania?" right?
Of course I do...my point, which obviously escaped you, is that people assign the "better job" title to a certain school, when in reality it comes down to the wishes of the individual candidate.
If location or weather is a big factor, there is a subset of candidates who want no part of State College or Baton Rouge.

It’s even worse than that. Just watched a show and an “insider” said he gets his info either from someone who used to be close to the program or another guy who hears things occasionally from higher ups. It’s not second hand information, it’s forth and fifth hand information from people who don’t really know anything. And then people bring that here and talk like it’s fact.

I've changed my mind about Key. After doing more research, hell yeah I think Key is a good choice. I still don't care for his passing game but I think he is a superior overall football coach compared to Franklin. My bars are actually simple and basic: The next coach must be an upgrade over Franklin. Key fits that stipulation.

Texas is a borderline playoff team -- they probably finish 8-4 but they haven't been "bad, bad" yet

If A&M gets to the quarters or even further is Elko off the board? How long will Krafty wait for him?

I believe there is interest from Elko but there has to be an inverse relationship between how far A&M goes in the post season and his interest and likelihood of coming to PSU.

Hearing DeBoer has interest but same issue as Elko.

Best case for us is one of those guys misses the playoffs but that is highly unlikely.

I live here so maybe it is why I say Bad, Bad.....only time they have looked decent to us here was ther OU game.
Defense is legit. Offense is a stinking turd. I don't think there was an more over-hyped player than Arch, if you exclude Drew who struggled to hit a receiver that was running away from him. If he continues to improve, and he has improved, Texas has a shot to make the playoffs.
