Just curious. Are there any well known and successful coaches out there that didn't start out at a lower tier school?

Beilein was a lucky grab. He had 20 years of being a head coach when we hired him at a time when he had to replace a coach who took us to the NCAA 8 times in 24 years. We are 21 years removed from that hire and after Beilein got us to the tournament 2 of his 5 years and Bobby got us there 11 of 16 seasons it’s fair to say that we are in a position to hire a coach who’s proven at a higher level.
Andy Kennedy seems to be the favorite and he has been a head coach for 16 years and made the NCAA three times.

Andy Kennedy is a Dakich level hire. If he is brought in, it’s basically with the goal in mind to keep the transfer class here given he is from the Huggins coaching tree, and maybe we have a good first year, but long term we are going to struggle to maintain the standard Bob built.
Josh Eilert, assistant coach, internal promotion to interim coach is a fairly likely possibility.

He has been a success everywhere he's been.
Yet everyone here hated Huggins and he went 13 out 16 seasons
Not going to find another Huggins so quit comparing.
The permanent staff really has to be replaced if we hire outside the program.
1) No one on that staff is stellar. It’s easy to be “loyal” when no other major program wants you.
2) They are “ride or die” with Huggs. You can’t have that presence in the locker room. It would be impossible to trust them.
There certainly isn’t anyone that is half of what Huggs is on the “short list” going around.
If it’s that bad, do an interim HC that the players will stay and play for and then do a real search if this is the best we can do.
Hiring someone who is as close to Huggs as possible is not moving on from Huggs. Why fire him if they are just going to go hire Kennedy or Calhoun? Totally moronic and just screams "we dont know wtf we are doing!" lol. Lets throw the future away just to keep Huggins last class together? Idiots....
