Well we got rolled (as the scoreboard showed) at T-town tonight. But, we're not as bad of a team as the scoreboard showed, obviously. Our special teams are atrocious, and what the hell was Tyler throwing at on 3rd and goal, etc., but how do we respond? I've been a State fan for too long for my personal health, and I have to say that all preseason predictions aside, this still has the chance to be a hell of a season. The "experts" will tell you tonight was the test of what kind of team we are. I maintain that next weekend will be the test. Alabama is a hell of a team with a hell of coach, and they're a machine that you can't make mistakes against (that blocked FG that would've put it 7-3 turned the whole tide, no pun intended), and while we could've beaten them, it's not a shame to lose to them.
Can we come back next weekend and show what kind of team we really are? I say that's the test of what kind of team we are. We're not a #1 in the country team, and anyone who thought we were is obviously delusional. We're better than aTm, though. The true test of this team and this coaching staff will be to see what happens next weekend. Can they take a punch in the face, regain themselves, remember who they are, and beat the newbies? That's where we'll see what kind of team we have.
I guess now we're playing for 11-1. Hell, as a 27 year State fan, 10-2 is a hell of season, and I'll take it and ring my bell at the bowl game. The test of this team didn't happen tonight. It'll happen next weekend.
If anyone on this board says they'd be unhappy with a 10-2 season, I'd say, "You serious, Clark?"
