This is the same point I was trying to make this morning in another thread yet I got berraded for it. My issue isn't that a murder on campus devalues our degrees. I am as upset about the murder as anyone else. However, the caliber of students at your institution does effect the perceptual value of your degree. I am just guessing here, but if less, known before college drug dealers, we're enrolled at your school the caliber of students would likely go up.
Is the value of an Ivy education related to the curriculum or the caliber of students that you compete with to get in the school and compete with in the classroom? I think if you did any research you would learn that, for the most part, it is the latter.
