All things considered, I think it has to be one of the two. Unless Mullen is going bipolar regarding his QBs.
(1) Relf started every game until UAB.
(2) Russell had a good second half vs UAB and earned the starting job.
(3) Russell started against S Carolina, and had a few decent moments.
*this is where I begin to wonder*
(4) Despite Russell being inconsistent, Relf doesn't see the field during SC.
(5) When Russell is injured for 1 play vs SC, Relf still doesn't play.
(6) When we get in the red zone or short yardage vs SC, Relf still doesn't play.
(7) Flash forward to UK, and Relf comes in on the second series, despite being backed up on our own side of the field.
(8) Russell's first series vs UK consisted of two handoffs, so he wasn't pulled for a "spark".
The fact that Relf go no time at all during SC leads me to believe that he was either injured or suspended for SC. There were rumors about his injury, but he also said some things after the UAB game. </p>
