So, what do you put the probility that the next coach will be an improvement?

And by improvement I mean wins andNCAA tourneysuccess. Having choir boys and a "well coached" team doesn't mean jack without wins. I think it was time for a change, but I put the odds at 50/50. When we canned Crooms you knew there was a 90% chance you would end up with a better coach. It's not nearly as cut and dried here. Thoughts?

Stans has help to build us up to the point that we could say we're at a high enough tier in mens basketball, that we expect to get to the tournament each and every year.

I hope we can hire someone that can pick up right where Stans left off at his peak.

50/50 is all anyone can guess. But hell, at some point you have to at least take a chance. We haven't had a real basketball coaching search in THIRTY years. Hell Mullen could go winless for the next
2 years and be run out of town, but from what we know RIGHT NOW, it looks like that hire worked out. With basketball, we are finally taking that chance that football and baseball have already addressed. MSU fans needed this kick in the pants. You can't be scared of change and hold on to the familiar just because you are too chickenshit to get out there in the real world and make a hire and TRY to become better.

and I have some faith in them. If LT was making this hire I would put it at about 10/90 meaning about a 90% chance we would do worse.

If you include NCAA tourney success in that. I think matching the last few years' combined winning percentage is probably 60/40 in favor, but making the NCAAT and more particularly, winning in it, is less likely.

If people think that you bashed Stans when he was the coach, just wait for the next two years if the next coach isn't successful.

Every win will be due to the genius game planning and discipline the new coach has installed, and he should be given a raise for a 18-15 season due to the dumpster fire that Stans left him, while every loss will be due to the toxic waste that Stans left.

Its pretty much a guarantee this is how the next two years of MSU basketball analysis will be from you.

Who are your choices in the unlikely event MSU can't land Shaka and Marshall? Kermit Davis? Eustachy?
