So who holds the most blame for our poor safety play this year?

Overall our safety play was terrible this year - I think we can all agree on that.

Run support was poor in in both tackling and attack angles. Pass support was poor from recognition and coverage, with many supposed blown assignments.

Whitley was our big playmaker back there but I think the injury took a step from him and he never adjusted to that. Broomfield seemed mostly non-existent to me and he was clearly at least a league average corner if not slightly above average (that small stretch last year where he couldn't tackle anyone on a bubble screen notwithstanding). Hughes seemed to play a touch better, but I can recall a number of poor open field tackles and a few blown pass coverages as well in his limited time.

Seems our scheme demands that these guys be rock solid, and this year they took a step back as a unit.

So who does most of the blame fall on - Hughes or Wilson? I'm seen a lot of people calling for Wilson's head but can't say I've seen anyone claim Hughes needs to be replaced.

And what personnel changes would you like to see next year (Whitely to LB - maybe Wells back to S or more Dee or someone else like Market?)

Everyone's. Mullen's for making terrible hires on defense, the entire staff's for not having a suitable replacement other than Broomfield at safety, Wilson for calling plays out of the N64 game NFL Blitz, the players' for the on field product, the athletic department for ruining the gameday experience, and the fans who let that experience stop them from coming to the game and getting into the excitement.

Pretty sure its the "negative nellies" here on SPS

Any mortal that would dare challenge Little God Dan, has to be responsible for poor execution, poor reads, poor tackling, et al.
