I think it was a somewhat capable amateur that had a decent plan, but when he saw the story go national, he freaked out, killed the old lady, and did his best to disappear because there was no way he was going to actually collect money and get away after the whole country was aware. And they’ll probably find him if that is really his DNA on the glove since half the country idiotically submitted their DNA into databases like Ancestry.com. Sure, maybe this guy didn’t. But if his uncle did, the FBI will figure out it was someone closely related and narrow it down until they get him. Personally I think using DNA from genealogy sites should be illegal for the government, but I’m sure I’d change my tune if my kids got stolen or something.
Oh my god, THIS IS SUCH NORMAL THINKING! I 100% agree.

Like all these dorks that are like "my rights" this and "my rights" that. Shut up and use common sense. Think about if it happens to you.

A few dozen miles to the south kidnappings for money are fairly common place. Maybe just a guy who thought he was getting a wealthy person but didn’t know who it was. I will never go to Mexico again. This crap happens every day down there. Average people disappearing never get any media coverage.
My neighbor works with a man whose son was recently abducted in Mexico. He’s mid twenties and just finished work and went to have some beers with his coworkers. They took him, notified his dad in the US he needed to send $30k. His dad was able to get it but it took time to take out of his accounts. 3 days in they said it was too late and for him to stop contacting them. His son has not turned up and there’s no information. It’s crazy down there.

Well the backpack they showed still had the tag on it. It was from Walmart. Just find where the upcoming was scanned, who and when. Most check out lanes have cameras
