wonderful things by breaking an NCAA rule knowingly? He had is BC membership revoked. He had his season ticket purchase refunded. He now has his name on 17ing yahoo, ESPN, CL, etc. This was all to the tune of a few hundred bucks that he knew could get him, the player, and the university in trouble. It is idiotic no matter what he has done for the university in the past.
If you asked him right now, "Would you have done the same thing if you knew you would be in the press months later for doing so and MSU would potentially have NCAA sanctions for your actions?", what do you think his answer would be?
Just because a lot of other people do it doesn't mean it isn't a ridiculous risk that you are taking. The risk isn't yours alone is the biggest issue I don't think you get.
Edit to add: I am saying he is an idiot if even one of those handshakes or free meals/rooms happened. I agree with you that Devinner is slimeball. The fact that the university disassociated with him tells me that there is a fair chance at least some of these things actually happened.
