based on some quick searches and a lengthy hiatus from a prominent poster on 247, one would assume it is [fill in the blank].

I'll hold off judgement until all the facts are in. Right now we have a guy that Paul Finebaum considers to be "less than credible" and nothing else. Nothing from the NCAA, the Booster or the Coach.

Who knows what might have happened - we've just heard from one person who is apparently desperate.

I learned there is a $150 room for rent in West Point. Who the hell affords that stuff.

Anybody could find ANY school guilty of a couple hundred bucks of "gifts" just by going to any schools local watering hole during a recruiting wknd.

We've heard from Mississippi State, who disassociated themselves from Hack. That's all I need to know. My alleginces stand with my university, not some dumbass booster.

Jerrel Powe got so many $$ handshakes from UM boosters in high school that he

had to use all four FUBU pockets. And that $2k month house in Oxford where he lived alone wasn't covered completely by his scholarship in aide..

All of this is nickel and dime stuff. Some of our posters are like a bunch of squealing jr high girls over a spin the bottle game. This stuff is all minor and it goes on everywhere, even with 3 of the 10 USM fans (see Tracy Lampley).

THIS x a million. We have Pat Forde, who loves all things Mississippi State, write a David Murray'esque article running State thru the mud over what? A $100 handshake, a jacket and a free meal.

This is truly f'n ridiculous.

You aren't hurting anyone's feelings- not even our booster. Why don't all of you wait till the whole story is out before you so quickly pass judgement on one of your own. The booster is a good person and has done a lot for our beloved University. I don't understand all the hate when you only know De'Vinner's story. He is a liar, a panhandler, and an OM homer. That should say enough.

and I would call those people, to their faces, idiots for knowingly breaking an NCAA rule. I know it happens everywhere. Idiots are definitely everywhere.

So you don't think it was idiotic to potentially tarnish all of those...

wonderful things by breaking an NCAA rule knowingly? He had is BC membership revoked. He had his season ticket purchase refunded. He now has his name on 17ing yahoo, ESPN, CL, etc. This was all to the tune of a few hundred bucks that he knew could get him, the player, and the university in trouble. It is idiotic no matter what he has done for the university in the past.

If you asked him right now, "Would you have done the same thing if you knew you would be in the press months later for doing so and MSU would potentially have NCAA sanctions for your actions?", what do you think his answer would be?

Just because a lot of other people do it doesn't mean it isn't a ridiculous risk that you are taking. The risk isn't yours alone is the biggest issue I don't think you get.

Edit to add: I am saying he is an idiot if even one of those handshakes or free meals/rooms happened. I agree with you that Devinner is slimeball. The fact that the university disassociated with him tells me that there is a fair chance at least some of these things actually happened.

I knowingly break the law daily by speeding...

which is actually illegal. This is not. It is an F'n joke. Legally I can gift anyone I want 13k bucks a year. So we are making a big deal out of this but cecil newton admitting to pay for play for his son and nothing happened? Look, Im all for rules and what not to the strictest degree as long as EVERYONE is judged by the same rules whether it is a double stack from Wendy's or 180k. This is twice now we have tried to play by the rules and got burned. You know why auburn hasnt gotten in trouble? Because they keep their f'n mouths shut. The NCAA can do nothing to anyone. The only way anything comes out is if you start running your mouth. Folks do the work for them, they let it marinate in the press and then folks start running their cocksuckers. It is the same formula. Auburn said FU, we aint done squat, and stuck to it. Lesson learned, again. We have the biggest bunch of pantywaist fans I have ever seen. Who needs other schools to hire PI's, we hire our own. Freakin idiots.

The university issued a statement that we were under an NCAA investigation because of a recruiting irregularity. It appears the irregularity was that a booster was caught giving money to a recruit. STOP THERE ROY. Without said booster doing this you don't have to look at the fans for your scapegoat.

Have you given any thought that none of this is true?

Just saying. Our AD may have taken action for the sake of being PROACTIVE, no matter what happened.

As I've said, wait till the other side of the story comes out.

you keep saying this but if there is actually something on the other side that makes us look a little better, we need to quit sitting on it

WE TURNED OURSELVES IN, AGAIN! Sheesh, what do you not understand about that? We did it with Cam, burned. We did it again, burned. My point is F'em. Dont turn **** in. Seems to work for Auburn and the lot. Again, LEARN OUR DAMN LESSON. If you see a booster or coach do something they "shouldn't" tell them to not do it again and to deny deny deny til death if you want to be part of this university. How the hell can it be proven if you dont say anything? It cant, without pics or an ncaa rep seeing it. DENY DENY DENY!!!!!

Other side of the story. That isn't the tune you were singing yesterday. You stated that every program has this stuff going on, implying that you were defending the guy for his actions. Well which is it?

"Rosebowl is such a douche bag. Calling a booster an idiot is ridiculous, EVERY program has this going on. Rosebowl is the bigger idiot, afterall- he claimed we were going to play in the Rosebowl several years back." - BehrDawg

I was pointing out that you were claiming somehow this is the fans' fault. I agree we need to stop turning ourselves in with WE = The university and not the fans.

If he is innocent the sad part is, there is no amount of "other side" that is going to counter the fact that the AD disassociated the booster. If he had no part of this it might suck for the guy but without the AD himself coming out and saying we were hasty in our actions and should not have disassociated this booster because he did nothing wrong, then no one is going to believe anyone else on the subject. I'm not saying he did or didn't do anything. I'm just saying the preponderance of evidence is on that booster being guilty. I don't think there will be enough evidence to overturn the fact he was disassociated.

If NONE of it was true, explain why a coach got fired, a booster got disassociated, Devinner knew his name, and the complimentary receipt.

we have basically admitted that something happened. What exactly is a little unlcear. Personally I hope that it was only 200.00 some clothes and some food. Thats better than a ford mustang i guess. There might be more to it and I would bet any amount of money in the world that Devinner knows more dirt on other programs, but in the grand scheme of things, if this is all that there is, it shouldnt be that big of a deal.

So you're saying

that a coach was fired a few weeks before the season, a booster was told to take a hike, and we are being investigated for no reason whatsoever? Come on man, give me a break.

my biggest concern at this point....

is that the NCAA ruling didn't come out prior to these articles. The NCAA can and will change their mind based on the reaction in the press. They will find some way to increase the sanctions if this gets a ton of play in the press because they will think they have to show their power.

and this line of posts leads to another concern...

those rat bastards pick and choose who they want to burn. If they were consistent it wouldn't be a worry right now. We all know they aren't.

He want's to play within the rules, and if he finds out we are breaking them he will turn us in. It all comes back to Scott and Brackey...
