Pretty cool to see Jackie and Dan the Man together. I also like the idea of the university making Wyatt the mouth piece of MSU athletics.

Guys, I'll have a free video of halftime posted on the site in just a few minutes. I including good shots of "the man" trying to get in the way of the camera.

Feel free to check it out.

I'm pretty sure Matt will be doing the play by play next season. I think Jack has called his last game

I do know the shitstorm his call of the UM game caused. No one in the Bryan Building was amused. I'd be shocked if he were back.

Frankly, I think it's way past time for a new direction.

So, he caused a shitstorm because he......told the truth? Because he said what was on the minds of most MSU fans who actually give a **** about winning?

Please tell me that when Jack is replaced it's because of senility, and not his truth/reality-based comments about our ****** football program.

I just don't see how anyone who's been paying attention to the changes made in the last few months could be surprised. Do you really think Jack's caustic comments, as truthful as you may find them, fit into the positive mindset the new administration is putting into place.

I find it surprising because Byrne has been so adept thus far at being in touch with the fan. If he were to give Jack an improper sendoff and piss off the 97% of MSU fans that love Jack, that good will that he has built up could vanish pretty quickly. We all realize Jack isn't as good as he used to be. We all realize he mixes up names and gets times and downs wrong now. But Jack should have the option to leave when he wants to if anyone in this world ever did. It would just be silly to piss on an amazing career such as his just to change up the radio broadcast two years early.

"in the Bryan Building" about how Jack called that joke of a game is an id!ot. I am for firing anyone who would want to replace Jack for how he called that game.

Now it may be about time for Jack to consider retiring but that game should have absolutely nothing to do with any decision. Actually, he was brilliant that game.

We'll see how it's handled. If it's done, it will handled properly. Or, if they think the goodwill cost will be too high, they might just let the situation play itself out. Time has a way of taking care of things.

I do think you'd be surprised at the number of complaints received and the passion expressed by those complaining. It's not so much about him not knowing who has the ball or the down and distance anymore, it's the sarcasim and negative tone. It's clearly a hot button issue with a lot of MSU folks and I'm pretty sure his approval rating is way south of 97%.

...of what you think about the mood of the Bryan building following that game or the alleged number of complaints received, I can tell you with first-hand knowledge that the day Jack vacates his chair, it will be because he kicked the bucket, or because he retired. He will not be removed. Hell, Strat was just telling me a couple of weeks ago how funny everyone thought he was during the Egg Bowl.

I'm done with MSU for good. Truth be known the only people upset were just more of the run of the mill GP sunshine express who also thought Croom deserved 1 more year. We saw how that turned out didn't we? How's it Jack's fault that our "punter" couldn't keep from kicking 12 yard bombs off the side of his foot not just that game but his whole career? How's it Jack's fault for expressing the complete lack of desire or effort of an O Line to at least pretend to protect their QB? How the 17 do you positively call a 45-0 *** raping at the hands of your arch rivals?

I think the standing ovation and people's renewed love of the Kang has as much to do with him hanging around the last few years as it does with his on field success. Seems like he's always at the football (and now basketball) games, and he hangs around talking with fans, and generally staying in contact with the program. I do not see Croom doing that. I think he's a bitter, hardheaded individual who will hold a grudge, and will not be hanging around DWS in the Club Level very much.

Personally, I hope he quits talking about how MSU wronged him so we can put that behind us, and I hope eventually he does come back periodicaly, just for goodwill. But it's doubtful in his case. Do you think time can heal that wound?

If a Scott Field crowd would give Emory Bellard a standing ovation, anything can happen.

nobody in this world should have the option to leave from a position such as his when they want. unless someone like Mark Cuban decides to start announcing his own team's game, i cant think of another reason an announcer should have the ability to choose when they leave.

with that said, i hope he doesnt leave anytime soon. he has gotten a few steps slower and screws up plenty, but his announcing is like food from your childhood.

Except that I disagree that all of what Jack said during the State vs Ole Miss broadcast was true. Much of what he reported was his opinion expressed with as much ascerbity as I have ever heard from a broadcaster of any event. I love Jack Cristal, and I hope he returns next year and the year after that too. However, in recent years he has departed dramatically from what made him a great announcer, admired by Bulldogs and adversaries alike. He has always attributed his success and popularity to following the advice Dudy Noble gave him when Noble hired him--describe the action on the field--give the listeners the score of the game frequently--and no bs. In the past several seasons Jim Ellis has had to smooth over many vitriolic comments Jack has made about the officials and our players. I hope that Jack will make the effort to close his career on a positive note. I think his voice and mind are still remarkable given his age, so I believe he has at least a couple more good seasons in him. And I think Jim Ellis will be Jack's play by play successor. Matt Wyatt, I believe, has his goals set on more of a national scale--and he just might have the talent to achieve that goal.

the time, and it's annoying as hell. When Bama is beating us 45-7, I don't want to hear about how the "future looks bright, with so-and-so backup walk-on scrub linebacker in the game." I don't want a screaming hissy fit every time we pick up 6 yards on a sweep. If we are getting crushed, just tell us we are getting crushed. We gave State a woodshed beating last year. The worst one most of us had ever seen. Most everyone suspected that it was so bad that your coach was about to be fired. What should Jack have said? Some of you State fans don't know how good you have it with a legend like Jack. I have hated the Bulldogs for my whole life, but I always loved listening to Jack. He may be slipping, but he's still better than most.

...all you MSU fans who assign blame to Jack for the mess that is MSU athletics...all you idiots can go to hell.

Jack was smacking down a football team that was horribly coached, not prepared to play, & was a total embarrassment that day to all things Miss. State.

Yet some of you dickwads toss it all off on Jack, as if Jack's penchant for truth telling is the real villian in this scenario.

Jack Cristil could read from the Tupelo phone book during all the football games next year, and you idiotic douchebags better learn to like it.

It takes a real low-life fanbase to project all the shittiness inherent to State's athletic programs on a man who has had to suffer through decades & decades of worthless, cowardly crap coming from the MSU sports squads.

to say whatever the hell he wants.

He tells it like it is about a State team that is getting drubbed by its arch rival - hey, that's reporting the facts.

I have no idea. I am sure it's really irrelevant in the long run, but I'm just curious.

And Byrne seems too smart to do anything that dumb,

Ronnie is making way too much sense lately. And I agree 100%. Jack's calls were the only thing good about the last 5 years of football.
