Curious to see how South Rowan does with their new coach. Sounds like the kids are excited and ready to get things going. I have no idea what either teams brings. This game is at South Rowan. Any thoughts.

You must haven't seen Parkland either! No disrespect to S.R. From the Scrimmage last night it could be another long year.
Parkland 42 SR 13
sadly it might be , i think we got a shot thoNo disrespect to S.R. From the Scrimmage last night it could be another long year.
I wonder how many kids from Parkland's district are starting for other Forsyth County schools? I know a few years back it was like 17 or 18.Good win for South Rowan, but it’s important to note that Parkland is quite terrible.

Open enrollment. The district doesn’t matter in Forsyth County.I wonder how many kids from Parkland's district are starting for other Forsyth County schools? I know a few years back it was like 17 or 18.
You have to start somewhere! Hopefully this new coach can change the atmosphere and make the kids believe they can compete!Good win for South Rowan, but it’s important to note that Parkland is quite terrible.
Yep. A few All Star teams and the rest. The Forsyth County transfer portal giveth, the Forsyth County transfer portal taketh away.
Oh, I know. It's been that way for a long time. It's good for the kids in some ways, but it really makes it tough for a school like Parkland to dig out of their hole.Open enrollment. The district doesn’t matter in Forsyth County.
Samek dug them out. So another coach of that level can, but without a coach like that it seems like they suffer.Oh, I know. It's been that way for a long time. It's good for the kids in some ways, but it really makes it tough for a school like Parkland to dig out of their hole.

In Davidson, the kids are supposed to live in district.Or Mecklenburg, Davidson, Guilford and everyone else.
Parklands talent ether at EF, Tabor, Glenn, and Reagan.
Supposed to but still lots of transfers, whether legit or not I believe was his point. In Davidson, the kids are supposed to live in district.
There are, particularly out of Lexington. But they at least have to play the housing game to make it legal. That's not the case in Forsyth.Supposed to but still lots of transfers, whether legit or not I believe was his point.

Because we want it open and love our school and kids. That will NOT ever change so closure will never be an option. With only a 300-350 enrollment and only 30 kids consistently out for football (4 grades), we are against all odds in football. Just a fact and a numbers issue regardless of what some “football experts” on here think. Re-districting of the whole county is needed and recommended but DCS and the school board politically aren’t interested in upsetting or ruffling the feathers of the other county schools.Little bit off topic but my question is South Davidson why do they keep it open n could SD ever get better or are they outlier in Davidson co ? I mean could get more athlete if they redone the lines or kids stay at SD?
Moving into the district is not a requirement in Forsyth County. It is open enrollment.Stop it. That's the same thing they do in Forsyth county. Not hard to commute between each school.![]()
No hate or disrespect is intended but Understood ….. Hopefully one day they will redo the lineBecause we want it open and love our school and kids. Geographically, SD already has the largest attendance zone - so the magic solution is to make it larger? I’m not sure what that actually solves. I suppose lines could be tweaked but I believe the issue is the fact that it just isn’t seen as a viable option and folks leave for charter or private schools in surrounding counties. Thus the #’s seem to continue to go down as it becomes less viable - a continuous loop.Because we want it open and love our school and kids. The difference and distinction being drawn is that FC is truly “open”; the other counties aren’t - you have to live in the attendance zone, whether real or fictitious or have a parent that works at a school outside of your zone, or get some type of waiver through the central office.Turns out, I went to school in both counties and fully aware of that.
Seen plenty of families not follow the district guidelines in Davidson... pretty sure they don't in other counties too. That's why its funny reading about Forsyth county schools using open enrollment in this thread.
We are rural in location and only lose a few to Charters and private schools and they are not athletes. The few that we do lose go to the charters for what they believe is a better education. However, a lot of them if not the majority return to SDHS. CD has 950 kids in the middle school we have 250. Certainly, you get this?Geographically, SD already has the largest attendance zone - so the magic solution is to make it larger? I’m not sure what that actually solves. True - sorry for the turn - I played those late ‘80’s SR and Parkland teams - an amazing fall for both programs. SR can be rebuilt through hard work down to the youth level. Parkland will take another energetic coaching staff willing to put on the full court recruiting press and play a style of ball attractive to athletes.Severe left turn from topic but
My thoughts on the S Davidson issue.. Probably the best situation is to shut down Silver Valley Elementary and draw the line to include Brier Creek Elementary into the South Davidson district. That'll still only give you 100 more kids or so throughout the 4 grades though. Maybe not even that.We are rural in location and only lose a few to Charters and private schools and they are not athletes.
