We know a little about union we played them last year in the first rd. guess we'll find out next Friday night .
They had a really quick qb last year, hopefully it'll be like last year we get a couple good hits on him and he'll ease up on superstar status!! Union academy is not good. They got a decent rb in #40. and 1 tall receiver in #11. Thats it. Final score against my trojans tonight was 42 to 14 but should have been more like 42 to 28 we were stopped on the 3 yrd line twice. Evans should have a field day running on them. And the fact my trojans scored 14 almost 28 speaks alot bc we hadnt scored in a single point in a month lol. Cherokee by 28

Alleghany is not any good....lost last 8 games after winning 4 games against marginal competition, so I seriously doubt if Union Academy was much concerned about the Trojans when they played. Union Academy did beat Thomas Jefferson so I would not discount them at all. And, for the record, Thomas Jefferson would have crushed Alleghany.
Please show me anywhere in my post where I said Alleghany was any good? Or where I said they would have beaten TJA? i even joked about us not scoring a point for a month...henseforth we suck. Mvac is a decent conf. Well Your Trojans certainly bring it's level down a bit. So i guess you're right. Since it's so weak name the other GREAT STRONG 1a conferences other than the SMC. I'm sure you won't find many with as much parity..meaning on any given night..a team can take a loss. Name the conference and why it's so great. At the end of the day you will find that the other conferences have strong teams and weaker teams just like the MVAC.

Sorry to ruffle your feathers DaBluePrint1...best of luck to East Wilkes this Friday. Historically MVAC doesnt win hardly any playoff games is what I should have said. Thats what I base success on...playoff wins. Not 9 and 1 seaasons with 1st round exits. You are right there isnt another strong 1a conference besides SMC.
I agree with that assessment..but youre forgetting about all the successes that Starmount and Elkin had in the 90s-2000s..5 state championships and several regional appearances sprinkled in there as well...Those accomplishments rival any conferences accomplishments during that span. I totally agree with how tough the SMC is..but you shouldnt totally disregard or discredit the accomplishments of fellow conference members.
If the accomplishments you speak of are from starmount and elkin from 15+ years ago I will disregard them when Im talking about today's as in last few years MVAC is known as weak. Competitive within their own conference yes...playoffs = early exits. I think East Wilkes if your Running Back is healthy has the potential to win it all this season. Although murphy is tough. I think EW will beat ES if your rb is healthy
Check this out Kevin. I agree with a lot of what youre saying. But youre defining this conference against 1 super conference that is the SMC. The thing that makes them so good is that the top 3 are always relevant when it comes to 1a/1aa football. Other than that..do you really think the SMC is any different with their teams that perennially hover around the bottom of their conference than any other conference. The answer is no. I respect the SMC wholeheartedly but since the split 1a/1aa, how many big 1aa titles have been had out of the West..I think Thomasville has 3 or 4..Albemarle may have 2 or 3...I can't begin to think of any other teams from any other conferences..i'm speaking only of Big 1aa...Again the SMC is the epitome of 1a conferences..but only the top 3 teams deserve the credit...every other team in the SMC is guilty of being considered good..only because they hail from the SMC. Great history resides in that conference..but too much stake is always considered by their history as well.

1AA state championship Swain enough said . They had a great 3 year run and one of the most dominant physical teams to come out of the smc

I wouldn't disagree with your assessment. The SMC does well in the playoffs. In the MVAC, I would still give credit to Starmount and Elkin as the teams that were perennial playoff contenders and consistently shook things up as well. Both have fell off significantly in the last few years however. Elkin is poised to make a HUGE resurgance in the next couple of years..You heard it here..small 1a you have been notified!!
LOL...relax! You proved my point. Alleghany is essentially a JV team and that is hard for other teams to get up for.
Hey rich how was friday night lol, you SPC fans will never learn, after next round none will be left. I was at the robbinsville game and saw firsthand that MICS is nothing more than athletes, they aren't a football team, hopefully you'll get my mountaineers next year.

Ol' RICH ain't hiding at all, MICS is a team with great athletes. But to showcase those guys you have to be stronger in the trenches. ROBBINSVILLE front line was the difference. #70 was great but the other lineman we're also good. At the end the day I'm football fan. You have to respect great play and effort when you see it. Now the SPC still has 2 dogs in the fight. So don't overlook B.C or TJA. Right now it all comes down to match ups.
If ROBBINSVILLE comes in motivated as they were for MICS. They win by 14, but will be is the question. Mitchell does pass but its more tunnel screens, quick game style passing. They can't throw the long ball like MICS. R'ville is clicking right now and that's what you need during a playoff run.
Actually, Ben Young is better at long bombs than at short bullets. If Robbinsville is slow on the corners, then lob it, and let our speed take over.
