Reading the white castle thread just now it seemed to heading into another, much tastier direction of people posting great burger joints and best burger's they've had that I found rather interesting. So to steal AustinTXCat's idea I'm going to go ahead and start the thread.

In terms of best burger I've had it would have to be Minetta Tavern in NYC. They have a "Black Label Burger" that was like 30 bucks. Its a mix of ribeye, short rib, and brisket and was aged for like 50 days. Extremely good, but their bloody mary's were awful and it was a hungover Sunday so that was really disappointing.

In terms of "regular" burger my favorite local place here in Columbus is called Thurman's cafe. Their burgers are huge but absolutely delicious and you have to wait like an hour to get a seat, but well worth it. Let's hear some recs so we can hopefully hit up some good burgers on vacations.

Butter Midtown (NYC) - Butter Burger (bacon jam, jalapeño coleslaw, monterey jack cheese fondue, house made french fries).

The combination of fixins was tasty, but what made this burger perfect was the flavorful meat and the bun. Incredible.

My favorite local burgers (Cincy) are pretty much anything on the menu at Sammy's Gourmet Burgers (Blue Ash, OH) and the Double Cheeseburger from Gaslight (Pleasant Ridge, OH).

Dyers Burgers in Memphis, TN. Very simple. Cooked in a vat of 90 year old grease.

I've wanted to try that since we went there for the Liberty Bowl. I never made it there that trip and haven't been back to Memphis.

Really good, huh?

Very good. They only come with pickles, onions and mustard. Nothing else. You can order a single, double or triple. I would recommend the double. I lived there when they moved to the Bartlett location from downtown, and had to have a police escort drive the grease to its new home.

Dyers is extremely overrated. Sawyers is a much better Memphis burger and that isn't saying much.

Corner Cafe in Augusta is well known for it's burgers...

I will get strung up for this, but it is a dump in appearance.

But they make a damn good burger and has been run by some of the best people ever over the years. Just an old run down building, but I would bet the grease in the walls add to the flavor :).

Sault Ste Marie, Michigan. There's this little mom and pop place down by the waterfront that borders on being a shack. I don't even know if the place has an official name, we just called it "Pier Burger".

Station Burger in Murray is ground with bacon. Good burger. The original is in Paducah but I haven't been to that one. Also, and somebody needs to help me with the spelling, but I remember another roadside burger spot near LBL that was good. Beleau's or Belews, I think.

Out of state that I can remember was Brocks in Charleston. Ate at The Varsity in Atlanta years ago and it was good but not life changing.

I'm a big fan of the BBB burger at Mussel & Burger bar and the grind burger at Grind Burgers.

Like someone said earlier, there are a lot of good burgers out there.

I had a Donut Burger at pub in Lakewood Ohio on a business trip last year. I don't get out of South Central ky very much so it was new to me. I have to say it was the best Burger I've ate

I've had several really good ones but my favorite was from when I was a kid. There used to be a Max and Erma's on Nicholasville road in the 70s. Until then, all burgers had been grilled at home or crappy fast food. I ordered a garbage burger and my world changed. It was fantastic and taught me to try different things. (I guarantee that I had never eaten anything with guacamole before that). I had one a couple of years ago and it was nowhere near the same experience.

Butter is owned or ran by that Alex chick off FTV, right?

Have to agree about Dyers. We ate there the last time the Cats were in Memfuss. Reminded me of Steak-n-Shake. It was ok, but way below what I expected.

My favorite(s):

Burger Bar in Bristol, VA. Been there since 1942, and the last place where Hank Williams was seen alive. Named top burger in Virginia by Thrillist. http://www.theoriginalburgerbar.com/

Mid City Grill in Johnson City, TN. Open only from 5:00 PM - 5:00 AM on the weekend and 5:00 PM - 4:00 AM Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. Named one of the top 10 burgers in Tennessee by somebody. Try the 1.5 lb. Full Nelson, or make it a double.....or triple. :flushed: http://www.mymidcity.com/

Breakers in New Smyrna Beach, FL. At the end of Flagler Ave and right on the beach. Grab a window bar stool and order a 4 cheezer. http://breakersnsb.com/

The Doghouse in Ft. Myers Beach, FL. Right across the street from the beach. Only a few outdoor seats, and 2 parking spots. Go here if your really hungry, and try a Cuban if they have it that day. I highly recommend it.

when I was 14 years old, we drove back and forth to a tournament for about a week. We stopped at the KFC in Grayson, Ky EVERY day. They had what they called the "Colonel" burger. It was about the size of the original Whopper. Had a grilled taste. Served it with a dill pickle spear.
Remember one day ordering my Colonel burger. They gave me my white paper bag. When I looked inside, there were two Colonel burgers. Being a good kid, I went to the counter and told them they'd made a mistake. They let me keep both! One of the best days of my life!

My grandfathers. He mixed burger, bread crumbs, ketchup, garlic and onions, and cheese in a mix. It was world class and if I owned a burger joint, this recipe would make me millions.
