Buffalo & Dad's in Lex (RIP) Hattie tried to duplicate but failed.

Nothing in town has ever measured up.

We lived in Pflugerville, so that's usually the one we'd hit up. Their breakfast is always solid and loved their CFS, but the burger was what we got 99% of the time.

Have always liked Wendy's, been disappointed on my last few visits, patties too dry and salty.
Returned from Dan's - Lamar 45 minutes ago. Grabbed a medium cheeseburger all the way with a small side of french fries. Both were excellent and well-prepared. Fries had just the right amount of crispness. Pictures are below. By the way, yes, that's mayo next to the fries, which I prefer over ketchup as a fries sauce. $5.45 total with free water as the beverage.

Damn, I miss Austin, especially the mexican food.

You still hit up any of the watch parties? Last I knew, the Irish place near Pluckers where we went for the UK games changed to something else.

Looks pretty pedestrian.

The Central Texas UK club meets for watch parties at Blackfinn AmeriPub at the Domain. I attended often while TXWildcat97 and Darren were club presidents. These days, I usually only attend the annual SEC Kickoff Party and Picnic every August at the American Legion down by the river.

Now that picnic is a total blast! I shouldn't admit this, but at the last event, I drank 7 quarts of Alltech Kentucky Kolsch beer and stuffed myself silly on Rudy's BBQ. All free. Still rode my bicycle home, too. Crazy, I know.

Bourbons Bistro has a great burger..they are pricey but come with fries and both are delicious.

The one time i went to Mussels Burger Bar I was totally underwhelmed.. Prices were ludicrous and the burger was as bland as ****..i will never go back there.

Saw that they moved the picnic from Zilker, any reason why? Always had a good time at both the picnic and watch parties. Third Base was another place they held them at. Is Brian and Darren even around anymore?

They moved it because support was better at AM Vets.

Brian came around the last picnic back in August. He's totally off social media, except for LinkedIn, and says he loves it. Still with the same engineering firm. He served as SEC prez in 2012 over all 12 clubs.

Darren moved to Houston perhaps in 2012. I believe he's active down there in a club.

You and I may have met at a one of the Zilker Park picnics. Were you at the 2011 picnic when temps hit 111°F? Brutal that day. Darren was club prez then. Beth succeeded Darren. Our current prez is a UT professor named Lauren. Very nice.

I had left Austin by then. We met and talked a few times at one of the picnics and several watch parties. I remember you talking about riding your bike all over Austin. I think the first picnic I attended, there was about 7 or 8 of us there. By the time I had left, it had grown exponentially, for all of the schools.

Louisville - Corbett's

This is a fine restaurant and you can only order the burger if you are sitting in the basement, in the bar or on the porch. I live close to there - a nice move is to head up there, sit at the bar, turn on the game, have a bottle of red and knock out the burger.

This is a great burger. It's been a minute, but early on, they had a Kobe burger, then it was a ground ribeye burger. Both were great, house made stone ground mustard, sometimes on a pretzel bun. Sweet potato fries were solid as well.

Corbett's burger is the same as Jack's Lounge. Also Mojitos (Mussels & Burger) have the Cuban burger that's really good.

I miss Austin as well...lived there (Round Rock) from 2000-2006...great city...great food...

I could live a couple weeks off just the BBQ and texmex...

I get back there occasionally for work and was crushed to see Antonios on 35S frontage road had closed...

I could use a trip Magnolia Cafe right about now...

Whoppers, like all chain burgers back in the day, used to be good. The last Whopper I tried to eat I threw half of it away. You would have to be well in your 40s to remember when chain burgers were actually good.

It was the first burger I had that wasn't homemade or didn't come from McDonalds.

Yep, that's me. We may have met at the 2009 picnic. I also attended several parties at Bagpipes (now: Big Daddy's) when Darren served as prez.

Sorry for the thread hijack. Back on topic. Red Robin. If one signs up for the Red Robin fan club, benefits include a free burger and fries during birthday month.

On Veterans Day, Red Robin also offers free burgers and fries for vets. I attended this year. Tavern Burger quality = above average. Not quite mass-produced, and still decent.

That area of Austin, RR, GT and Pville is exploding lik crazy. Was in the area last summer for a wedding and damn near didn't recognize some of it. Miss me some La Margarita quesadillas, chips and salsa.

Saw that Antonio's had closed, thought they were better back in the day when in some strip mall well off I-35.

Had breakfast at Magnolia on our last trip. Outstanding.

I'd kill to find some good migas up this way. A place in Pville, Mama Jack's, made some that I just absolutely loved. They also served a pretty mean burger. Small little M&P place, last I heard, they were struggling to stay afloat.

Not sure how many is around anymore, but I never had a bad burger from Shortstop. We used to hit them up on either Wed. or Sat for their Burger Bag Special.

Think I'm going to have to start whispering in the Wife's ear about moving back.

PS- Miss me some Conan's pizza also.

Bagpipes. That's it. Was some fine talent walking around in those plaid skirts. We usually gathered in the back room to watch the games iirc.

Robin is good in a pinch. Had some bad service, like no service, last visit. I'm stubborn, won't hit them up for a while.

Had the clam pie @ Pepes... DopeAF.

:)

Honestly had a hard time eating most of it. Wife doesn't like clams and I was unaware I could get only haf, thought it was whole or nothing. Learned my lesson, but I enjoyed it.

What we had at Sally's the night before, wife could eat pie 7 days a week. The potato pizza on the left was interesting.

I used to work at Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio. I was at Rudy's (the one going out toward Leon Springs) eating brisket on wax paper when I learned Billy Clyde would become the UK coach.

It would be out of your way, but while visiting family for Thanksgiving we went to "NACburger" in Nacogdoches. Had a BAB (bacon avacodo burger). Thing was dynamite. Had some pico mixed in it. Place hasn't been around all that long, tucked in a modern strip building on the north end of the SFA campus. But probably the best burgers in the Piney Woods.

I've spent a small fortune on Rudy's over the years. Austin Rudy's >>>> Houston Rudy's

Actually live in Kingsport, but our daughter went to State, and JC has far and away more dining options, so we have eaten more than our share of meals there.
Tough place to be a Cats fan. I lived in JC for a long time. My hatred for UT is strong! I was hoping somebody was going to say a Pal's burger. Pretty solid for fast food, but obviously not "best you've ever eaten" quality.
