State Excluded, which SEC team and fanbase would you most identify with and why?

I was reading this EDSBS piece about LSU, and this question occurred to me. If I was a sidewalk fan, and could just choose a team to pull for, I would definitely go LSU. Those mother17ers just know how to have fun.

Thought it might be an interesting thought to ponder on this gameday eve.

We're very similar to Auburn and Texas A&M.....

I know alot of Auburn people and they have the same struggles within their state as we do within ours. They have a little bigger population their therefore more money. And, opposite of Mississippi, Auburn is actually the 'regional' brand while Alabama is the 'our state' brand. Football players may come from all over, but I'm talking more fanbase and alumni. Auburn has a good many 'real' fans in Georgia and Florida as they do in Alabama. Alabama fans really tend to just be Alabama, with areas of overflow like the edges of MS, FL, TN and GA.

Texas A&M is probably more like us, although double in size, due to the state they are in. They have to struggle with an elitist flagship school as well, that will stop at nothing to obtain power and hold them back.

Then there's the Ag angle for both, obviously. Auburn does have pharmacy, which we don't have. I wish we'd pick up another school like that, really wanted the W for the nursing.

Now, if you're asking what school I'd be a sidewalk fan of, if say I went to school at Nowhere State? Florida. And honestly, school wise, they aren't too far off from MSU. They are the Ag/Engineering school in Florida.

I'd say LSU if I didn't live in Louisiana. But, being where I am now, I wouldn't want to associate myself with all of the Delgado, Southeastern and UNO grads that bleed purple and gold. I even know a guy that graduated from UNO and bought an LSU class ring for his graduation - no thanks pal, ya'll have fun at the purple party at your hose on the West Bank. I do enjoy going to LSU games with my friends that actually went to LSU, just wouldn't want to join the elite ranks of the sidewalk alums.

So being from MS, and living in the OP's fictitious world of no MSU; I'd choose Ole Miss.

17 me right? Can't believe I just typed that.

Agreed. I've had plenty of near-hostile encounters, but never a bad time. That said, if we ever win in Tiger Stadium and I'm there to see it, I'll probably go to jail.

Kentucky. Before anyone jumps on me, MSU has always put other sports before football. You have to admit that those last couple Brooks years they had about the same success as Mullen is having now, and they had Couch, which I relate to Sherrill years.

Not sure, but I can tell you who it wouldn't be. Here's a hint. I hate penny loafers and red britches.

I'm a graduate of UGA, but I am a MSU fan. I'm not sure what this reveals about my psychological health. As far as other schools in the SEC that I like, A&M then Auburn. Had I seen Gainesville while I was in high school, I might be a Gator today.

I grew up in Baton Rouge and everyone in my family graduated from LSU. I think I can pretty reasonably say it would be the Tigers.

A&M. I have always liked them. However, depending on what that little sumbitch lined up at QB does tomorrow, I may change my mind. Not really, I have always been impressed with Texas A&M. I would even say they are my 2nd favorite team if there was such a thing, which there really is not.
