So winning or not winning this weekend may have a direct bearing on our chances of winning the next weekend. We are much less likely to beat LSU in BR at night.

CBS can go and 17 themselves!!!

CBS only care about teams that are Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina and LSU. They could give a rats a$$ about Arkansas, Auburn, MSU, Ole Miss, Vandy, Kentucky, Texas A&M and Mizzouri.

I agree that an 8-1 MSU at a 7-2 LSU would be a much better game than a 3-loss A&M team at Alabama. But that's not how CBS looks at it. To them the choice is between showing undefeated Alabama going for its 3rd national title in 4 years or some game between 2 has-beens playing for 2nd place in the division.

then why didnt they go ahead and make Bammer-A&M the 2:30 game?

Because if LSU beats Alabama, then LSU controls their own destiny and would be higher ranked in the BCS then Bama. See it has nothing to do with us. It all about LSU and Alabama.

Because they're waiting to see if Bama beats LSU in Baton Rouge this weekend. If LSU wins, they'd rather show LSU since they would then be the ones with the inside track for the SEC title and a potential national title shot. They're just like ESPN. They're going to follow the front runners and it really doesn't matter who they're playing. They'd rather show the marquee team in a blowout game than 2 good teams playing a good game. In a very different example, I don't even watch the ESPN coverage of the 1st week of a major tennis tournament. All they show is Federer, Djokovic, Serena or Sharapova win blowouts in the early rounds. I'd much rather watch the Tennis Channel's coverage of the much better secondary matches that week.

Basically, they follow the SECCG contenders.

CBS broadcasts the SECCG, so it only makes sense their weekly broadcasts are going to feature the games with the greatest implications for that future matchup. If LSU wins, they are front-runner for the West participant. If not, adios to the 2:30 slot next week.

Once UGA beat Florida, they are now sitting pretty on their side. Pretty much a no-brainer if they are wanting the highest exposure the likely SECCG game participants.

all things equal, A&M/Bama would have a much larger rating than LSU/MSU...

If LSU upsets Bama (or is even competitive) and MSU blasts A&M, LSU/MSU might have a chance in that slot.

Why? We play them better at night. The only games we've been in down there since '98 were night games... 2000 and 2008. Bring on the best atmosphere in college football.
