I just watched Kyle Flood try to explain away his mistakes, he had 3 weeks to think about it and he rolled out the same BS.

He would've been better off saying I f#cked up, I learned from it, let's move on. Or just a simple no comment. Look at the faces on the BTN commentators, they didn't even comment, lol.

According to many who were there, they praised Flood for how he handled it.

He spoke well, as he always does. He didn't get pissed and walkout like Edsall. But listen too what he is saying, meeting off campus and not wearing RU gear is just small talk. The private email was to protect the student-athlete and not himself, lol...this dude is a fool.

The less you say the better. The fact that he was suspended for three games and fined $50,000 should be more than enough incentive to just move on.

You are an idiot. He handled it perfectly well. The people on this board suck. You and Plum Street would be perfect together. Stop your biatching...

I agree, there was an investigation, he was found to have broken the rules and he comes out basically saying he did nothing wrong, why is RU still signing this guy's paycheck?

I'm not going to call you any names because we just disagree. Handling it perfectly means not being accountable...I guess if he won't hold his players accountable then it makes sense that he won't hold himself accountable.

How about this for accountability?

I served a 3 game suspension and paid 50k.

Flood has to be careful what he says to the press about everything.
Saying more than he should and/or admitting he knew he was doing something wrong
meeting that professor and the e-mail sent could open up a can of worms and let himself
be open to being fired for cause.
A fool would leave himself open to be fired for cause, when the punishment was already set and served.

As far as we should be concerned, his accountability for the e-mail incident has been handled and now the only thing Kyle Flood needs to be held accountable for is the direction RU FB is heading under his leadership.

Awesome, Flood knew he f×cked up but he has to be careful what he says so he won't be fired for cause. Sounds like he is more interested in saving his job than the direction of the program.

Not the case, just making sure he didn't make another mistake that could cost him his job.
Nothing to do with his coaching and direction that's taking RU FB.

You are a complete douche...Flood handled it extremely professionally...because you feel differently does not surprise anyone on this board ... the majority of your posts are negative towards Rutgers , players and most definitely Flood... to be fair.... he did say "I learned from it"....but like the *** wipes of NJ.com you are of the same ilk... you are pathetic KJ_RU

Ummm, yes it is exactly what he said. did you watch the presser?
Meeting on the Princeton campus is small talk? Private email = protecting the player. Coaches aren't allowed to contact professors under any circumstances, he did it despite being warned not to, how is that protecting a player?

I'm not exactly waving pom-poms for Coach Flood after all this, but I'm not sure what else he could have or should have said today. This thread is just another excuse to start yet another fire the coach/coaching search debate. It's getting pretty old.

Just like the media, KJ. He didn't say small talk, you made that up to fit your narrative and agenda. Is it possible he was trying to protect the player, of course it was. You don't think so because it doesn't fit your agenda. You simply don't know, nor does anyone else. You think you do though because you see "how it looks". "How it looks" isn't necessarily how it is.

When I saw this thread, I thought Flood had totally messed it up so I went to watch.....Where did the OP get his information. Flood did a very good job. He took responsibility and did not let the press bait him into talking about it more than what was necessary....time to move on.

Get back to me when you actually watch it, lol. He said meeting on the Princeton campus was small talk.I agree that Flood did a good job of handling the press and b×llshitting...that's the one good thing he has done since he's been here.

I would rather have a better coach than Flood too. But the agenda some people here have against the man is pathetic.

Like many others on this board we want to WIN badly but not at all cost...we need to put the hate Kyle Flood stuff aside for the rest of this season...the record will dictate what happens after ...the decision won't come from any of us fans...B1G donors ( whomever they are ?) will have a large input...Flood knows he screwed up and has apologized ...time to support all of Rutgers...

I think he said not wearing Rutgers things was small-talk, not meeting on campus..but whatever..

You don't like the guy, so what...

Let's support him as long as he's the coach..not that hard to do.

Like many others in this thread, I'm not thrilled that the guy is our coach, but I don't think there is anything else he could have said here and was probably told so 1000 times by his lawyers.

As for the small talk comment, On the banks has the complete transcript up, http://www.onthebanks.com/2015/10/12/9509985/rutgers-football-kyle-flood-press-conference-robert-barchi , here's the relevant part:
Q. Well, using your private email account and not wearing Rutgers clothes so you wouldn't be recognized in the meeting.

KYLE FLOOD: I understand why when looked at out of context, people might feel that way. The issue with the private email was really just to protect the student-athlete, a student-athlete whose academic record had already been, to some degree, on public display when it shouldn't have been. The meeting with the professor was in on open courtyard in broad daylight. The comment about not having Rutgers gear on was very small-talkish type comment. But it's one of the things I've learned in this process, is that things like that when you're the head football coach, they can be taken out of context

If I see more of what I saw Saturday night I'll support the hell out of him, if I don't, I won't.
Since when do fans just support the head coach if he's not getting the job done?
This team set a standard of physicality Sat. night, now he's got to duplicate that every week...no excuses

I'll support RU FB, I'll want wins and less drama surrounding the program.
I supported Flood at the beginning of this season because he looked like he was improving as a HC and recruiter, but don't support him now but want RU to win even with him as the HC.
If Flood shows he can win and move RU into the top tier of the B1G, he'll have my support again.
But if he can't win or show he can make RU FB more than a middle of the road B1G program, I want RU to replace him and bring in someone that looks like they can make RU a major power.
Also know that will be hard to do if the RU Administration doesn't start investing the money that would make becoming a major FB power a lot easier than trying to do it on the cheap.

Or maybe, like virtually anybody in his position, he's interested saving his job AND in the direction of the program since they are not mutually exclusive. Since winning games is about the best possible thing he can do to help himself and help the program, I'm thinking that he's mostly focused on doing just that and perhaps not so focused on perpetuating discussions which in no way will help the program.
