The weather service has set off alarms for Lincoln County within the past twenty minutes. The sky looks really angry.
Twice I know of tornadoes in this area and both were in a small area around Northwestern Lincoln/Northeastern Cleveland County.
The first was in 1989 and resulted in several fatalities and a large amount of property damage. Don't know why that area seems to be so vulnerable to severe weather. They got the first tornado warning that was issued today.

My wife lost her great aunt and uncle in the Toluca Tornado in 1989....

Hope everyone is safe in this bad weather day around here...

Shelby Lion, I thought about you yesterday during the bad weather. The National weather service said there was rotation in an area 12 miles southwest of Hickory. Thought to myself, “It’s that area, again”.
Glad everything went well.

I believe Lincolnton Junior High had a spring dance that evening and had to do the drill in the old gymnasium. Probably no safer place in the county than in the locker rooms of that old gym.

Fan in VA,
I remember it being on Friday. If you click the link, there will be a blue line below Hickory going southwest that shows the area. According to this it was a category 4.
