It took a LONG time for seatbelts to become law. Did everyone that didn't wear one before they became law wear it after on day 1? Probably not. I wasn't raised by morons so we were taught to put our seatbelts in before the government told us we had to.
Would you drive 90 mph and trust a seatbelt made of cotton? It would slow your body's ejection from the vehicle. Or, would you rather see what actual science says about that?
I will be out again today with my PPE. I will undoubtedly see some fatass hang theirs under their nose and maybe I should remind them they're doing it wrong while pointing out heart dieseae is still a thing.
I'll go into the gas station with my PPE on and stand there thinking if it's worth getting stabbed in the neck because the LCD ***** behind me is too close thinking their sweatsock mask is the ultimate prevention.
If you want to reference laws that were passed eventually because of science and compare that to what you are GD certain of with masks then knock yourself out (preferably near water or fire).
