1. Close losses suck. Thats 2 this season. Very disheartening. Tough being a State fan sometimes<div>
</div><div>2. Coach Wilson should have put away all the doubters. We have had some good gameplans and are playing pretty good defense. People want to ***** about this or that- and how we play too soft in the secondary- but we are 5th in the SEC in scoring D and 20th in the country. Thats playing winning defense. Wilson is not perfect- only Saban is supposedly- but other than having Broomfield on Jeffrey that last play- he's doing a good job in his 1st season as DC.</div><div>
</div><div>3. You watch the offense yesterday and it should have become more apparent the problems werent just Ralph-related. What a crazy fall off- it's like him getting stuffed at the goalline vs Auburn ended his career. He put up 27 on Auburn- SC only scored 9 vs them and Florida got 6 last night. Just crazy.</div><div>
</div><div>4. The OL was soooo much better yesterday. They actually played average. Having Carmon back at LT is huge and had as big an effect on the offense as changing QB's. SC has a very good DL and they did get some pressure for sure- but they would have had 10 sacks if we had played Clausell- they would have made his *** quit. That said, we still have problems on the OL- but the chance to get more healthy the next 2 weeks- give some younger guys extra live reps with the week off, and having the same group ready to go vs Kentucky will be a big, big plus for us going forward.</div><div>
</div><div>5. Where is the screen to Perkins? Or better yet- any type of pass getting him involved in the passing game? Lots of untapped passing yardage in his *** right now</div><div>
</div><div>6. Our LB's have grown up and look pretty good. "My boy" Deonte Skinner is starting to be the player I thought he'd be this season.</div><div>
</div><div>7. Give me more Malcolm Johnson also- please. Please. Seriously- please.</div><div>
</div><div>8. Tyler Russell- The Good- is a natural QB, has pretty good awareness in the pocket, throws pretty well when moving, surprised with a couple of runs, does a good job of putting the ball where it needs to be on intermediate routes, gets rid of the ball outside the pocket to avoid sacks. The Bad- He was 11-29, bounced the quick screen, overthrew the deep ball, 2 picks, had the ball slapped out of his hand in the pocket (fortunately we recovered it), and takes too many direct hits. He did some of the things many here wail on Relf about- yet people act like we scored 30 points and he threw for 300 yards. He did not play good- that would be a lie- but he did play ok for his 1st start- and he absolutely has the upside to improve.</div><div>Nobody has questioned that he has the ability to make throws that Relf cant. And he will start hitting some of those deep throws with more time. He also provides us the ability to throw the slant that Relf cant. We have made the change, and no doubt need to stick with it going forward.</div><div>
</div><div>9. We should finish 6-6 and go bowling. We are not a program yet that can call going to a bowl a bad or disappointing season. You can be disappointed we didnt pull out a few more wins- but Miss State going to a bowl is a successful season. Argue if you want- I've got history and facts on my side. The few idiots- and you are an Ernest T. Bass village idiot if you are talking about getting rid of Mullen.</div><div>
</div><div>10. Playcalling- I like what Mullen did in Russell's first start- being conservative to minimize mistakes and keep him from throwing 5 picks. But we missed a chance in the 1st half when we had great field position and went with three straight runs, and then the 1st and goal from the 5 was not real good either. Even with a fairly conservative plan- we had 37 runs and 30 passes. We really dont need to throw it more than 30 times in a game anyway.</div><div>
</div><div>QB change- now an off week to get more work in on it- and the chance to get healthier coouldnt have come at a better time. I expect us to come out of the offweek with a couple of wins and looking better on offense. Hopefully some good times ahead.</div><div>
