this guy thinks I am a bear I think. The guy is big enough that he has been accused in the past of buying players by usm fans and he certainly would have connections to the top tier. Anyway, he said that Leach, Rodriguez, and Malzahn declined interviews. His only concern with Leach declining was that Leach being in the situation he is in wasn't interested (I don't think the guy wants Leach anyway). He said he expects it to be Freeze.

we interviewed Rich Rod this past weekend. Or at least our people talked to his people. However coaching searches work. He did not want to wait for our process though, and is going to take the AZ job. Not saying he would have chosen us, and I don't think our higher ups would have chosen him, though I personally would have.

I think he meant an "official" interview. Obviously rebel people have had discussions with leach. This guy mentioned that not having an active AD was going to hurt them with bigger names in his opinion. I wish I had asked him who has the final say and what constitutes an official interview.

that he would only be interested in a school with a stable administration. I think the "<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 2px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 2px; ">not having an active AD was going to hurt them with bigger names" applies to him.</span>

Leach has to have certain athletes to run his offense and the most critical, QB, is nowhere to be found on campus at Ole Miss. He has a few skilled players, but what the hell good are they if nobody can get them the ball. He would bury his coaching career if he went to OM and had zero success in a three year period. IF,IF, he declined I could see it and it would have been all about preserving his potential future as a head coach.

If everyone is going to be honest about the situation at OM, it is not a good one at all for a coach to be stepping into.It is probably going to have to be filled by a mid major head coach or somewhat established asst. coach who has had success and wants$$$ in his pocket and visions of grandeur in the SEC. I know this is all probably obvious, but nobody has said it.

For a guy speculated to have declined an interview, that's about the 5th OM sports radio related interview for him in the last 10 days.

I only think they'd decline further interviews if they were not interested. The D1 coaching world is too small not to meet as many people as possible. Although Greg Byrne is certainly capable to hire a new coach I'm sure he called up Stricklin for info on Rich Rod. Maybe even for his phone number etc... It's always good to meet folks and have connections.</p>

who played in the 60's who said he thought there is 0% chance Leach coaches at OM. He's just not a fit for them, in so many ways.

If you are pulling guysfrom campus pick up games/fraternity get togethers,in any sport, you will not be coaching in the SEC for long.

Nobody wants it. They saw what happened to Cutcliffe. They saw a sleazeball Corndog cheat replace him long enough to bring in some talent, then Ole Hootie get fired. I think they bring in someone from the NFL, maybe a Special Teams Coach...like Nick Bisacchi.

I agree. I think everyone is overlooking the NFL angle. Peyton & Eli gave Daddy a list of names. Wouldnt at all be surprised to see an NFL coordinator or position coach.

dumbasses I guess. The player was from the hattiesburg area and Croom didn't really pursue him very hard so we weren't butthurt over him. Bama, lsu, etc. probably didn't know he existed. You do know that usm is located in hattiesburg, right? It stands to reason that usm fans might get a little pissed when olemiss dips into their backyard for a player they thought they should get. The only reason I mentioned it was to emphasize that the guy isn't some run of the mill jackass sitting in the endzone on saturdays and that he might know a little about what goes on in their search for a coach. Stay on topic. COACHING SEARCH.

if you have a coaching vacancy, do you want to hire a guy who sued his last employer?
