Seadog, you just blindly walked into a buzz saw. Last week Tarboro fans overwhelmed the Granville Central visitors side and then took up almost half of the home stands. In the 2nd half the announcer said the administration and sheriffs dept asked Tarboro fans to move to the visitor side. They did but l later heard that neither the administration or the sheriffs dept asked for the switch.

You are coming in on the tail end if that drama. Lol

Well unless EC is bringing in some bleachers for the game....there's only one section of bleachers on visitors side via 2016 marching band you tube video....so to be safe you might want to bring a chair ....but this should be a great game....might make the 2 hour trip to see it.

IMO tonite East was the better team. The refs were really bad for both teams but they really hosed east in the 4th Q.
After Tarboro had to settle for a fg after having 1st and goal at the 1yd. line East took over. East drove inside the 20 but penalties hurt them and Tarboro took over. The Vikings went three and out and punted. East drove to the 11 yd line with 1st and 10. After 2 plays east had 3rd and 5 at the six. This is when the refs took over. Three straight 5yarders against east, then came 4th and east threw td pass with about 2:30 left. But the refs called holding on ,backed them up more. East completed a 4th down pass but it was short .
It was a great game to watch but the refs were way to much in control not the players.
Tarboro may be the better team but they weren't better tonite. One thing for sure East didn't get that butt whipping that someone said they would get.
Good luck Vikings against WRH!

Had to beat the team and the refs and we did it... we also had a couple of tds called back for bs reasons..... Everyone there knows 2 things.

1. Tarboro was clearly the MUCH better team.

2. The refs were 1000% for East Carteret

The scoreboard shows the winner...

Basketball Practice Starts Monday East Carteret.

You could argue that East Carteret had more talent than Tarboro - but a team consist of more than just talent. (But I think Tarboro had more overall talent)

Tarboro was clearly the better overall team. If you want to get real technical about it, the penalties on the last drive saved you guys because the result of those plays ended with a fumble recovered by Tarboro and an interception, but they were negated because of those penalties.

What was with your coach going for it twice on 4th and 20? That kind of aggressiveness works against teams like Pamlico and Rosewood - but chances are it isn't going to work in the 3rd round of the playoffs against teams like Tarboro and WRH.

Overall it was a great high school environment and it was a very fun game to watch.

You are right Marinersgold, East did not get a but whipping but they did get beat. I think East is full of talent but they did not perform well under the pressure Tarboro's defense put on them. How in the world does the quarterback fumble the shotgun snap so many times? Was the Tarboro defense getting inside his head? He is obviously a talented athlete but he was bottled up by the Vikings. I give him credit on the touchdown pass. That pass was perfectly thrown and the receiver made Tarboro pay.

I really believe Tarboro is the more fundamentally sound team. How many false starts did East have? How many bobbled snaps? How many stupid penalties that took them out of scoring situations? I think all those things are a result of the pressure Tarboro was putting on them. Something they did not experience playing the weak schedule that garnered them all those shut outs.

I completely agree with your comment on the refs. They seemed to be looking for anything to justify throwing a personal foul on a player. I have never seen so many 30 yard penalties for double personal fouls on the same team in any game. And why does it take so much time to make a call. There was a prayer meeting after every flag.

I think the future is bright at East. I know some of your stars are seniors but I feel confident you will be able to replace them. Good players seem to transfer into your school district on a regular basis.

JK agree and disagree with some of your comments. I'm pretty sure our defense surprised you. I'm sure that was two very good teams that played Friday nite. Again good luck against WRH.
Maybe we will meet this year on the hardwood.

Son, you are clearly DELUSIONAL. Of course, saying that to a blow hard like you probably doesn't mean much so here's a link that shows the box score and the coaches comments.

The only thing that happened Friday night was that two very evenly matched up teams, athletically , came into a football game , and the winning team OUT COACHED the losing team. What kind of coach goes for it on fourth down deep in their own territory on every fourth down instead of punting and forces throws deep in his own territory which resulted in both of the seasons losses (West Carteret and Tarboro) ? We have two capable punters and a very good field goal kicker but Coach refuses to ever try a field goal ? You guys were handed a win, plain and simple, in the form of 6 more penalties, for an extra 56 yards . You scored with the short fields we handed you and your coach was smart enough to kick the field goal when he had the chance . We out gained you by 81 yards but our coach lost it somewhere along the line . As you said, the scoreboard shows the winner. Congratulations. Tone down the chest thumping though boy , unless you are happy proving your manhood on that Friday night at the beach . There's a storm coming for you , and I doubt Joey Price gonna hand the next one off to you like Coach King did .

Actually you make good points, but to tell the truth we made those penalties and bonehead plays all year. We had twenty penalties in the first half alone against West Carteret , threw an interception in our own end while leading that game with less than four to go and still had a chance to win on fourth and ten when the "clock" broke. Went for the win instead of going for the tie for OT in that one too. Sound familiar ? The better coached and better prepared team won Friday Night, no doubt about it . The Refs definitely got to involved. On a side note , I heard a rumor the player for Tarboro got ejected for putting his hands on the ref ( I actually heard he slapped him ) . Not sure if that's true, but if so, it's disappointing. I know I was extremely embarrassed by my home team's lack of composure in this game as well . As for the continual sniping about transferring students and All Stars , cheating Etc, , people often leave the coast looking for job opportunities but they always come home when they learn the grass isn't always greener on the other side , like these kids have . Their families and their roots are here, and we welcome them like family always does.

I have no idea what transpired on the ejected player. If he deserved to be ejected then he should have been. I find that kind of behavior embarrassing for our program and know the coaches will handle it.
It looks like you have a very aggressive coach and that may have caught up with EC Friday. I also think playing a weak conference schedule sets teams up for disappointment in the playoffs. It is easy to gloss over weaknesses when you are still blowing teams out regardless. This has been my observation since Tarboro moved to 1A. I always question if our team is that good or if the competition is that weak?
I stand by what I said concerning your future being bright. You guys have a lot of the pieces in place to make a championship run. If your transfers are legit (and they must be) then good for you. I have no dog in that fight. Maybe we will meet again next year.

Just wanted to say that your online paper has the most comprehensive post game coverage I have ever seen for high school football. Great articles.

I'm not sure about the ejection , I was more disappointed in our own unsportsmanlike penalties and the calls against our sideline . Unacceptable, especially when you throw a kid off the team for back talking then get called for unsportsmanlike conduct yourself in the big game .
As far as transfers go, our man in charge has an impeccable reputation in education, he is not going to tarnish that for high school athletics , but in the days of mudslinging and insults , well, haters gonna hate . We have similar fan-bases who support our kids win or lose and travel well so we expect everything to be done correctly .
Your assessment is spot on , the weak season hurt us , but to me it seems to have hurt the coaching staff more than the players . I'd hoped they'd learned their lesson in the WCHS game but apparently not. We are losing a lot of talent this season in football and basketball , so we will be rebuilding, but one thing I can count on from this staff is they will work hard to get back to that game we gave away Friday night .
QB and BB center from last year is at ODU now redshirting and our big WR and BB center this year is headed to FSU , unless we can talk him into staying at ECU ( not likely) . Talent can get you to the dance, but coaching and preparation is what wins that ring .
I do hope we meet again, maybe on the BB court . We were Final Four last year , and have almost everyone back plus a few more so if you come back for a round-ball game, parking will be priority. There is no need to bring your own chair , but both sides of the court are home-sides at Eddie Murrell .
