You know I have to be honest after being at Northen Nash Friday night I might go as far to say this years Tarboro team could be even better than last years team and they went without a loss and won the state championship last year that’s how special this years team is looking. The scary part is I heard there have been several starters out since the season began and that they will be back this week. Fasten your seatbelts Tarboro is without a doubt going to make a big run AGAIN! Not only are they super super fast they hit like a college team and swarm the ball like a pack of lions shredding the competition! I’ve never seen a program this size 1AA that most certainly can compete even at the 4A level. Keep an eye out for the Vikings they are going to lay the hammer down this year respectively!

The defense did play exceptionally well the other night. Hopefully we return three starters next week. One from injury and two from suspension
They’ll be back back next week. We also haven’t had our offensive player of the game from the state championship last year due to injury. Going to be very hard to stop when those three are thrown into the mix. They’ve been hard to stop without them.
Buzz I agree with you that it was a legitimate question. If we can discuss the successes of the players on the field then we are within our rights of questioning them when they break the law. Just like in Mt. Airy where the players stole from a gift shop at Carowinds. And that was on a school sanctioned trip for the football team. Now in my opinion if you break the law and are found guilty then you have lost your privilege of playing this season. Take the season off and get your head right. Too many athletes receive passes because they are athletes. The coaches can handle the punishment however they see fit and however they can sleep best at night. I know in today's win at all cost atmosphere many coaches have learned to look the other way. Frankly it's sad and it is why high school football isn't the same as it was 40,30, 20 or even 10 years ago. Rule changes, charter schools, players transferring for one or two years just to be on a powerhouse team. It has destroyed what used to be the last pure football out there. Now y'all play nice and if anyone has any questions as to who is winning the 1AA Championship I'll give you a hint. Tarboro. They could very well win up to the 4A title. And that's not an exaggeration.
I would be good too if I went down in classes. They lose students but gain athletes. Its all good until Wallace moves back down or Tarboro moves up. Oh yea Tarboro cant touch Wallace, thats why they were sooo happy when Wallace moved up. NCHSAA should be ashamed of themselves putting Tarboro in 1a anyway. How can you brag as a Viking fan when you playing against smaller schools. The conference they are in has 4 schools (Southside, South Creek, Northside (Belhaven) and Jones sr communities combined is still smaller than the city of Tarboro. Tarboro is still a beast of a school but its not fair to small town schools. Tarboro use to be a 3a LMBO. A couple years ago they were a big 2a. But Tarboro cant help what NCHSAA do. They just play the game so Great JOB NCHSAA in making HS football competitive.

And according to the admin numbers on NCHSAA website, Tarboro is the 14th biggest 1A school. Is it unfair for smaller 1A schools to play the 13 schools in front of them? Your argument makes it seem as if Tarboro is by far the largest 1A school.
I don't think it's very shocking that the two teams that played in the 1AA state championship last year are also two schools that draw from cities/towns with 10,000 plus people. Realistically most schools that draw from a concentrated area that size are big 2A or 3A schools. They arent any other schools in 1A that draw from a city or town anywhere near that size besides Albemarle. I guess Rosewood technically draws from Goldsboro but they aren't getting any of the inner city kids

Not hating Tarboro is playing by the rules. It could be worse, Monroe (30,000+) and Burlington Cummings (50,000+) were 1A once.
If you want to file a complaint against the joke of an administrative body referred to as the NCHSAA well this is the place. I'll run down a few that will for sure piss a few posters off but you know what, I don't care. Thomasville, Lexington, Albemarle, Mt. Airy etc.... have long benefited from being "city school" districts and kids from the county could attend. Now there is an open transfer rule and you can go to any school you want for one year and play with not penalty. The NCHSAA looks out for itself and money. These decisions only affect a few 1A programs. What Albemarle and Mt. Airy made their bones doing is legal across the boards now. When you want to talk about the split 1A vs. 1AA and the numbers. Look no further than the ilk on the boards here. Murphy has manipulated their numbers for years just like Mt. Airy to ensure 1A ADMs. It's a fact. A running joke at the coaching meetings in Greensboro. How many 1AA titles do they have between them????? Exactly. The mountain teams have revolving doors when it comes to who is playing at what school and who is eligible where. It's ok, they come on the boards and support the site. Calling them out is a "no no." Now throw in the North Stanly All Star team that is "legally" playing this season with players that played at at least three other high schools last year and you have exactly what is wrong with high school sports today. If that coach can't finally make it out of the second round of the State Playoffs this season then maybe just maybe high school football isn't his calling. Recruiting used to be a bad word on any site. Today it is accepted and legal. North has out-Albemarled Albemarle with the flash and hype. Although, I'll give it to Coach Jack Gaster. He was a pioneer in seizing the day when it came to legal/not legal. He played with the rules that were there. NCHSAA has to be revamped and the cushy roles that the leadership has need to be abolished. But, since it's so close to that "academic" institution that controls so much of our state you wouldn't expect anything less from a university that had over 23 years of fake classes, athletes that never attended, sham professors, cheating TA's etc.... And to think that people still clamor for unc-cheat to be the flagship university. Anyone who can say that with a straight face should not ever be taken seriously.
2a/2aa some what the same thing. Its not playing small 1a schools! At one point in time Tarboro was a 3A. Ive been following HS football for some time. I know what im talking about!!!
3A back in the days when there was only 1 high school option. Now theres 3.

Unfortunately, Tarboro’s talent / depth dropped off the year they dropped to 1a. Talent goes in cycles and it took several years to reload to our current level. I would have liked to have a shot at WRH last year and this year. It looks like this might be a down year for them- based on starting 1-2 but they are very good at making adjustments.
We beat JK in the playoffs. They had some down years as well but WRH has definitely been the king of the Hill for a while.

That will be the game of the year in 1AA. Nobody in the West has the talent to play with those two. North Stanly recruited and can't even come close. They have two D1 signees, three more potential D1 players but their coach can't build a team over the summer. And they only have one playoff win in 50+ years. The only competition coming from the West would be Mt. Airy if they go 1AA. And that would be a very lopsided game. Over in the 1st quarter. Y'all got it going on in the East. Congrats.
The notion that Tarboro fans or players or coaches are happy that Wallace Rose Hill has moved up to 2A is simply ludicrous. Tarboro appreciates that type of competition and has played Wallace very close recently and has beat them in past years! Both teams are dominating the East along with Havelock! I would honestly love to see non conference games between Tarboro and Wallace I think it’s healthy competition and both sides respect each other there is no bad blood between them just to power houses playing for the win.
I completely agree. I have no resentment towards WRH. I have nothing but respect for them. I’ve been saying for a while that the two schools need to work out a home and home series. I think it would be a great thing.
Most folks in Tarboro were quite disappointed to be moved down to 1A at all. None of the 1A teams around Tarboro would be any competition in football. The season became unimportant. Aside from non-conference opponents, there’s really nothing to see. At least in 2A, there were a few natural rivals (SWE, Kinston, Goldsboro, Farmville, etc) that created a good gameday environment. No disrespect to Mount Airy or our own players for that matter, but I felt more proud of the Tarboro team that lost to East Lincoln in the 2012 2A championship than last year’s Vikings. Since then, our regular seasons have become meaningless. It’s sad really, but we don’t have the option to play up anymore.

TarVikes, I'm hearing that there is a good chance WRH will be put back in 1A at the next realignment. So maybe we can pick the rivalry back up then.
With all do respect sir you're comment about "the season became unimportant" is disrespectful. The season is always important to those who are involved from the players to the coaches to the fans. From what I have seen the fan base actually continues to grow. Sir if you remember when Tarboro first moved to 1AA they were unsuccessful in winning state championships. While I do recognize that regular season games are not the level of play of the 2A,2AA,3A etc.. to say the season becam unimportant makes no sense. This team prepares the same way no matter what classification they fall under. To say there is really nothing to see my advice to you sir is stay at home on the couch I am sure Tarboro fans dont need or want that negativity in the stands. Ill be honest with you coming from Greensboro and now living in Raleigh Tarboro has quite the following in larger cities. I personally make any game i can when im not watching my Page Pirates or Wake Forest play. If you sir cant be proud of Tarboro and their accomplishments no matter what classification they are in then sir YOU ARE NOT A LEGITIMATE OR TRUE FAN. By your statement im sure im more of a Tarboro fan than yourself because i recognize and respect their leadership and play making abilities. I know Tarboro can compete at the 3A and 4A levels not saying they would win every game but they most certainly could compete. I never said I wasn’t proud of these kids or the way they take care of their business. They can’t help the fact that the competition is nonexistent most of the way. As a fan though, it’s difficult to get too excited when most games are over before the half. I guess I miss the day when there were rivalry games, challenging conference opponents. It’s just not that compelling to be up 42-0 before half most of the time. Most of the teams in 1A have zero history, tradition, infrastructure for highly competitive football. Tarboro has all that because they have dropped from higher classifications and those things have been in place for decades. With teams like SWO, WRH and JK all up in 2A, there aren’t many chances to even be challenged.

Hey KW Corona, just ignore that clown. I'm not even affiliated with Tarboro. I'm a Northeastern Eagle (2a) fan. I just like to read different posts throughout these forums so I can stay somewhat informed with what's going on in different classifications. All this guy does is attack other posters if he doesn't agree with something they say. Hes incapable of carrying on a normal conversation with another poster. I made a post about Edenton Holmes up here and he just talked about them like they were completely irrelevant. We all know Tarboro is a dynasty, but as a Viking fan you should at least try and represent your school with some class.
