What a match-up. Two powerhouse programs competing for the opportunity to play for another state title. Tarboro fans have nothing but respect for WRH because you guys are a heck of a program.

I got bored and did a little research this morning, and it just proves how dominant these two programs have been over the last decade.

Record from 2007-2016:
Wallace Rose-Hill- (116-29) with 4 State Championships
Tarboro- (124-22) with 3 State Championships

Can't wait for the battle Friday night. Whats everybody's thoughts on the game?

3 championship but 5 straight appearances from 08-12. That is a dominant run. We re in elite company when it comes to that many consecutive appearances. Hopefully this is the year we get back over the hump.

Will this be the year Tarboro can finally break the Duplin County curse? Already taken out JK even though we were weak this year and not much competition. WRH 35 Tarboro 21

In 2013, Tarboro was very dependent on one strong running back. He was injured in the game you are referring to and we had to work with what we had after his injury. We were not deep at RB that year.

That is not the case in 2016. We scored 6 TD's against your tigers this year with 6 different RB's. (2 juniors and 4 sophomores). I like our chances to be competitive at the dog pound. Either way, the game will be decided on the field not on this forum.

Well WRH has to work with a team full of underclassmen. The only 1-A team that can beat WRH is WRH, and that applies to next year also.

This WRH team is leaps and bounds above the 2013 team. This will be a good gam but I will take WRH 28-17

I looked back through the records and to the best of my understanding the last time it would be possible that any of these players met before would have been in 2013 when they were freshman. And I remember well Wallace went to Tarboro and walked the DOG on them. I remember this because Wallace made the short trip to Warsaw the week after . . . My point is Tarboro is a great team but to think you will be able to walk into the Dog Pound a place yall have never been and come out with a win is just crazy to think. Wallace is a rival that I respect and I have seen first hand on more than one occasion teams (my Tigers) in particular go into a Eastern Final at Wallace and come up short. Words don't do justice to the home field advantage they have there. And IMO I still stand by my prediction

If I get your logic correctly, you are saying since the Tigers have been unable to win at the dog pound then no one can win at the dog pound. You make it sound like the home team plays on a 90 yard field while the visitors play on a 110 yard field and only get 3 downs instead of 4. Anyone can be beaten. I suppose the Vikings are crazy enough to practice all week thinking they can actually do the impossible. I have no idea how this matchup will turn out. If I could predict the future then I would be buying a lottery ticket right now instead of commenting on this forum. But I know the Vikings have a better chance than anyone else in the East to beat WRH next Friday. That's a fact Jack!

Game will not be high scoring.... total disrespect to both teams defense. Tarboro has the best defense in I think Tarboro history and I feel we are simply better than Wallace Rose Hill.

Gonna be a classic! Probably about mid 30's- good night for disability football, duplin's county style. Mad respect for the tarboro program. Both squads are quick, strong, and have excellent defenses. Gates open at 6, so I would get their early. I think game will be a tossup, decided by turnovers. I'm partial to wrh, and the dog pound advantage should account for at least a TD or so. Wrh 24-21

Like I said words don't do justice to the advantage WRH has at home. And you are correct Tarboro is the only one in the East that has the opportunity to go find out just how hard that is. No question that Tarboro is gonna practice hard hell im sure they have practiced hard all season to get where they are. IMO if Wallace played Clinton again and had the starting center they probably would be undefeated at home. Point is you get the privilege to go find out first hand for yourself what the Dog Pound is all about and just what kind of challenge is in front of you. Tarboro has been starving to be relevant again since Gurley left. Maybe they can get back to the mountain top Friday night. But i highly doubt it.

Duplin Tiger, you do realize that on that run of 08-12 Gurley was on two of those teams (on the 09 team as a jv player but wasn't a key player)? In 12 we went undefeated until the title game where we lost to an Undefeated East Lincon team. I don't know if I would have used the term "relevant" since he left.

DC tiger, I couldn't have said it any better. The Clinton folks don't want to hear what a huge difference it made when we played without our center. We did not play near our capabilities that night. I'm sure tarboro is the real deal. That's what we expect in our house to defend our title! So hang on, the house will rock Friday night! Wrh 24-21

It's so funny everybody thinks Todd Gurley was the only reason Tarboro won all of those games.

Here's some basic math - please take time to digest it all.

Tarboro went to FIVE- straight State Championships (2008,2009,2010,2011,2012).

Todd Gurley played varsity 2-full years (2010 and 2011) . He was pulled up for the playoffs in 2009 along with numerous other JV players and didn't see the field hardly any.

So to sum this up, Three of those teams were "relevant"without Gurley. So your argument that Tarboro was a one man band is "irrelevant".

Anyone who thinks tarboro was a one man gang doesn't know football too well. They were one of the most dominant programs in the east for years, and still are very successful. the folks from Duplin county are well aware of who's coming to town Friday pm.

All I know is since Tarboro dropped down to 1AA they have hit a road block. How many state championships have yall been to since you went 1AA?

Don't get me wrong, I expect Tarboro to win every time they take the field - but it is unrealistic to expect a program to go to a State Title every year. Especially in a small-town like Tarboro.

Tarboro was dealing with a downgrade of overall talent in 2013 and 2014. And we were dealing with youth last year. I'm looking forward to Friday night.

Someone from Tarboro mentioned something about that WRH train. That's exactly what they will see Friday. They just keep on bringing it and will ware down those Vikings. 21-7 Dogs

I love the way everyone is saying Tarboro has no chance and blah blah blah.... It sounds exactly like last week and then the game happened and BAM shut everyone up. As long as the game is refereed fairly I expect Tarboro to win comfortably.

I actually picked Tarboro to win last week by more than you'll did. EC didn't have anything for our Dogs last year in the Pound.I think your defense is better. but so is ours. Tarboro may win , but comfortably ! That's funny. I think all our Dog fans will congratulate you'll if ya'll do win. But,if your Vikings loose, well you are already throwing out excuses. Long drive back to Tarboro. I know, was there in 2013. It was a good ride back to Teachey, though.

PurpleAndGold, so you're saying you think East Carteret is better than WRH. Is that correct?

I can assure you nobody from Tarboro thinks EC is better than WRH. Also, the idea that anybody thinks this game will be a blow-out either way may be a little far-fetched.
