one thing is for DAMN sure, the city of oxford embraces ole miss while the city of starkville seemingly sees state as a hindrance. since nobody knows my story, im a huge bulldog fan, graduated from state in '05, and i am originally from jackson, ms. i am now an ole miss student and hate every second i have to be on campus, but one thing is for damn sure, the city of oxford loves and supports ole miss at every opportunity while the city of starkville is meh on the whole matter and doesnt seem to grasp that they could be mutually beneficial. some of you may disagree, but after 4 years in starkville, and now 2 in oxford, that is as clear as day to me.
the city of starkville needs to get it **** together when it comes to relations with msu. look at dixon's trip for super bulldog weekend....thats a 17ing embarrassment to the city and university and to me as an msu alumni. **** like that should NEVER happen, i dont care if it was at capacity or not. i dont know how to solve the problem, but there are no excuse for stuff like that.
not to hijack the tread, but whatever happened to that big development movement to make downtown starkville more pedestrian friendly with bike lanes, added green spaces, buried power lines, cohesion in building appearances, etc (i forget what it was titled, but it was basically a brainstorm of ideas to improve starkville)? thats the kind of stuff we need to get going to improve our situation.
