That ending summed up Mark Richt in a nutshell....

He seems like a good enough guy and coach, but that was his shot to win the big one and he laid a turd when it mattered the most.

Damn.

If I were a UGA fan

I would be calling for Richt's job after that one. Not spiking the ball there is absolutely retarded. Murray was even signaling to spike it, and was apparently overridden by Richt. Enjoy the outback bowl, you deserve it.

Could have spiked it on one of the other first downs also, cost about 8-9 sec...

Although don't think it will cost his job.

He's done this his entire career

Beginning with losing a game stupidly his first year at UGA. Taking a timeout on offense that wasn't necessary also cost them a full minute almost.

Are you serious? On the last play, the ball was thrown to the end zone, but tipped. That kid caught it on instinct. The same thing could've happened if they spiked it. And everybody takes the damn timeout instead of a 5 yard delay-of-game penalty.

Your hindsight is more like 20/200.

You spike the ball and take as many shots at the endzone as time allows, period. Not spiking the ball there was Les Miles time management garbage. I like Richt and you don't even consider firing him but that was awful time clock management.

If I was the coach, I would've spiked the ball too. But really, they lost like 3 seconds by not spiking there and they only had enough time for 2 plays, either way. He was trying to catch them off guard by not spiking.

They went 80 yards in 60 seconds against Bama. Jesus Christ. Y'all are really blowing this out of proportion.

Not if you think snapping it will surprise the defense. If they throw an incompletion there they still have 2 downs to play. In hindsight yea its bad, but that's not just some idiot call if I thought he had an advantage. Saban's error in the first half was much, much dumber.

Well everybody in the country is blowing it out of proportion then. It was stupid, plain and simple not to spike the ball. Richt will be forever remembered for this.

Richt had a good plan...it just didn't work. It was not a monumental corching mistake.

They won't fire him, but its not an idiotic thought. He was very close to being canned 3 years ago.

Marty Schottenheimer disagrees with you too. He went 14-2 in the regular season and was fired by the Chargers.
