For me the 1995 Thomasville team was the best

1968....hehe

1968 (12-0-1) WNCHSAA Champions
W ......26-20 Hunter Huss
W...... 47-0 Burns
W...... 14-0 Lincolnton
W...... 39-6 Cherryville
W...... 34-0 R-S Central
W...... 45-7 Crest
W ......32-0 Kings Mountain
W ......34-9 Belmont
T........ 28-28 Chase
W...... 41-0 East Rutherford
W...... 21-0 Marion
W...... 41-20 Chase
W...... 32-12 Thomasville

Na, It would be really hard to pick the best Shelby team of all time. '97 and '04 were two incredible teams but didn't win their State Championship games. 1972 team went undefeated as did the '06 team. Last years team only lost to 3AA Champ Crest while beating 3A runner up South Point. '86 and '87 teams were great. It would be really hard...

01' and 02' teams. 02' lost on last second FG in championship, only loss of the year. Probably best team we've ever had that didn't get it done.

Hey 2014 if Skinner does not get hurt maybe that's a different game or at least closer......If's and but's....

DH34 I get it, but no way we would've won. Shelby was man amongst boys that day. It was obvious. I hate to admit it, but it is what it is.

2007 to 2009 Reidsville went 48-0 with 3 straight 2AA titles...of these teams.....2007 might be the best....avg. an incredible 48.1 pts. per game....including playoff victories of 48-12....54-12......63-6......49-19...and 28-20..................I'm an old guy...so to the Thomasville fans....I remember your 1964 team....they hammered us 41-6 that year (and we had a decent team)...think the record will show that to be one of your best.....as Yogi said....."You can look it up"...................

Best SWO team us between 2003 or the 2004 team....team not to win a state championship had to be 94/95 year ranked number 1 in state on both sides of the ball!!!

I'm old too, Rambbq. That just means we have a greater perspective. It's hard to compare teams if you haven't seen them. And there has been none better for Thomasville than 1964. Close maybe, but none better.

I tried to type 1983 Randleman Tigers...IMO the Best 2A team ever put together..........
You're killin' me over here Maddox! That game was a lot closer than the score. And that wasn't even close to Thomasville's best team. But it was definitely a talented Tiger team.
The best thing that came from that game was that it paved the way for championships to be held at a neutral site that was large enough to hold the crowd. I still remember getting there three hours before the game and still having to stand past the end zone. I heard it was a good game, but missed most of it.

I played against the 83 Randleman, 84 Forest Hills, and 85 Lexington championship teams. The Lexington team was just as good as the Randleman team.
I think I still have a scar from Tony Goss running over me... lol, but the Deems May led wishbone attack was hitting on all cylinders when we met them in the playoffs.

You are certainly entitled to your beliefs . but for me the 83 Tigers were in a class by themselves.....The linemen were awesome. In fact so were the backs...A fullback that was 6 ft. 5 in 235 lbs , blocking for a tailback that was 6ft. 3in. 215 lbs. and let me tell you he could carry the mail....2 tackles 6 ft. 5 in and 270 lbs.....The center was Robert Creasy and he was the smallest line we had at 6ft. 2in 225 lbs..........I know all that height and weight may not mean a thing , but when the guys are all animals , it does mean a lot......Hiatt went to Wake , Goss to Carolina , Treece to Clemson , Paschal to Wake, QB was a Morehead scholar that ran the show. Again , that does not make them great , but I'm telling you they were pretty Darn Good. The only team in 83 that compared to them was 4A Page. Boy would I like to have seen them play each other that year.....But, this is just my feelings. You have yours as well and I respect that.....

East Bladen's 2003 Team was the best. Multiple players played in college. Kevin Richardson went on the App St and broke all sorts of records and Desmond Bryant went on to Harvard then the NFL. We had SWO but let it slip away from us.

I'll say 1987 Whiteville team Chester Macklockton ,Heath Hewett,Joe Reeves.
Just to mention a few. State Champs.
Great coaches. Had a good run for years, still
Has a great program. Buck71 can tell u a lot more than I but 87 was loaded.

That Whiteville team was indeed special. But McGlockton beat Thomasville almost singlehandedly in the championship game. He was a beast on offense and on defense.

Was the 1964 Thomasville teams defense better than the 1995 team that gave up 56pts all year in 16 games, that had 8 shutouts and the most points allowed all year was 13 to southern alamance

No sir. But they weren't playing Ledford, East, SW Randolph and Union Pines. The old North Piedmont Conference was tougher competition, top to bottom, than anything since.
You also had to win your conference to advance. You could go 9-1 in the regular season and stay home.

That 1990 Darkhorse team was truly great, with Clinton leading us 7-6 late in the 4th qtr and tville driving, our QB thru an interception to one of their D-linemen I believe who ran it in for a TD that was the ballgame right there...I think Clinton scored on there first possession,of all things a pass play to scooter banks if I remember correctly? Heartbreaking loss...but good memories none the less

My son played at Whiteville and we played
this 90 Clinton team. We lost by 1 if I remember right. U had Henry on that team or LC Stephens,my memory not that good anymore, but whiteville 90 team was good also.

West Stokes 2010 finished 14-0 with wins that year against undefeated South Iredell, Shelby and Kinston. They also beat Albemarle first game of the year and they were still pretty good back then.

Gonna have to go with '83. Most balanced team ER ever had. Offensively and defensively. 2006 threw it well but '83 had one of the best athletes school has ever had.

Yeah, it's hard to argue against '83 and Alan Hooker. In all honesty, I probably would've said '94 had they sealed the deal against Burns.

Gotoredd , it was Jarius McPhail (ECU - Miami Dolphins) that was on the 1990 championship team. Leonard Henry (also ECU - Miami Dolphins) was on the DarkHorse 1995 & 1996 teams

The best team I saw in 2A(well they were 3A at the time so it may or may not count) was 1989 Burlington Cummings. They were nationally ranked as a NC 3A school and had a nationally ranked QB's(2 years in a row). They had that decades version of the spread(or what was called run and shoot). They threw first and most often but ran over people with these huge bulldozer running backs. It's like everytime someone touched the ball they scored or got huge chunks of yardage. I don't think most NC teams were ready for that style of play at the time.

The 95 Thomasville team and the 99 HP Central team were the two best 2A teams I personally ever saw play. They were both the best teams in the state those years regardless of classification, IMO. T-ville's defense and HPC's offense were truly something to behold. I have been asked before what I thought would have been the outcome if those two teams would have played. My answer was that I believe Thomasville would have won. HPC ran a VERY potent wishbone attack that just ran over people all year long in 99. The 95 T-Ville defense was EXTREMELY strong against the run, to the point where it was really useless to call a running play against them. That is why I would give the edge to 95 Thomasville, because of how strong they were against the run.

If I HAD to rank them it would be 83 first(maybe cause I am old), 2006 second (Scott Riddle had a monster year and defense only gave up a little over 8 points per game) and then maybe 1994. There were a couple of other years where they only lost in 4th round of playoffs that weren't too bad.
