Bob Tyler was the first? He is the 2nd worst AD we have ever had.
I'm sure he means LT. That was a different era. We really didn't have money in LT's time. Cohen is by far and away the worst, and it's not even close.Bob Tyler was the first?
Good points. The never will gives and the no matter what Lebby haters don’t understand the **** show Selmon and Leb inherited. It takes more than a year to get from having nearly zero NIL budget to being able to field a roster with 30 million dollars like we do now. Particularly at Mississippi State where fans did not want to embrace NIL to start with. But nuance obviously is not your thing. Leach was dog sh*t his first year here too. He had to get his players in and get rolling. It takes time for wholesale changes when an entire department has been run by a baseball coach.
I struggle to put this on the free board but I will. Heres a picture if you will. When Lebby was hired we talked to a lot of people about the job the first question was what was our NIL plan and amount we had on hand. It was close to 6-8MM. Just absolutely embarrassing. Selmon and Charlie had to work their asses off to get to that level. We were turned down by not only sitting HCs but also some coordinators as well. In fact we had to over pay some assistants just to take the job here due to our lack of NIL funding.Good to know. You mean for the upcoming year? I'm really hoping we didn't spend $30M on this roster.
Epic failure with NIL here. No doubt.NIL and fundraising. Are you really that
He left NIL terrible but outside of that we’ve had way way worse. He is the 2nd worst AD we have ever had. The way he left our NIL situation should be criminal.
You are putting ole Miss ahead of auburn? If you aren’t your statement is incredibly stupid. If you are, your statement is incredibly stupid. He may average 8 wins. But it’s going to be hard for any coach at Auburn to get to the playoffs in the new SEC. They’re at best historically the 8th best in the conference and they really haven’t done much since 2013.
You are dumber every day if you can’t admit our defense was at an all time low with talent.I know those rumors were there and I also know why our fans love to bag on the "shltty recruiting" to make themselves feel better. But the facts are, Leach's classes were all in the mid-20s and he also hit well in the portal. So let's say he did retire after 2023, most likely going 8-4 or so.
Arnett probably still takes over the program, and he also would have made a lot of the same staff changes most likely. So 2-10 may still happen. But to me it's important to acknowledge that a lot of the "shltty recruiting" was NOT due to Leach, rather it was Arnett's and now Lebby's bad takes in the portal.
And if he had stayed (Leach), while everybody has down years, but I guarantee you he doesn't go 2-10 in 2024. Those players would have looked just fine under him.
How is this apparent? Seriously? This just a weird take . And What stupid sht is amazing you that ADs doHe may, he may not. But it's apparent to everyone that Florida should have hired him and Auburn hire Sumrall. It's amazing to me that these ADs continue to do this stupid shlt over and over and expecting different results.
I like Cohen, and I do think he did some good things for us. But it is becoming apparent that he's not as great of an AD. He's not awful, just not great. His calling was a baseball coach.
Yeah I agree. Fcking weirdI would love to hear why Golesh would be great at Florida and Sumrall great at Auburn and not the other way around. Please expand on that.
This is on the positive side goet . Keep it going!! You’re really improving! He is unfairly maligned about this by so many of you. I will grant you that he is not the best fundraiser in the world, but he did not "completely 17ed up" the situation. The situation was always going to be bad for MSU. It's just the typical MSU thing to do - find someone to blame when bad things happen. And NIL is probably the worst thing to happen to MSU sports (football at least) in 50 years. Think about it.....we had finally figured out the old system and were having marginal success and BAM, they drop unlimited pay for play which is the one area we've ALWAYS been behind in.
Even still, if Leach hadn't died, we were going to be fine and we'd all be thrilled with the football program. Well, except the RuNdAbAwLeRs.
Our Ad Sucks?Sheesh back to negativeIt's important. But if it was so primary, why does ours' and Florida's ADs suck at the moment?
I'd argue the correct coaching hires can take care of a lot of fundraising.
The NIL failure dwarfs every other thing he did. Based on that alone he was the worst hire MSU has ever made and it's not close. None of the hires you mentioned were that spectacular, other than one of the baseball ones. In the grand scheme of things baseball is irrelevant and he spent WAY too much money on it.Epic failure with NIL here. No doubt.
What does their NIL look like at auburn now?
Fundraising for NIL or in general? If in general, compare him to Stricklin and Byrne and give me actual evidence there was a lot of difference. You can’t. You won’t.
Outside of those two things what else?
He hired two very successful baseball coaches. One won a national championship and one took us to a World Series.
he hired leach.
he hires jans.
I don’t like cohen for a number of reasons but cohen wasn’t nearly as bad as some of you dumb 17s think he was. Neither was Stricklin.
I agree with you here. Leach would at BEST be on the hot seat had he lived. We had ZERO defensive talent. You are dumber every day if you can’t admit our defense was at an all time low with talent.
It’s funny you keep that same position. We WERE the run da bawlers. We wanted a PASSING game. Leach didn’t know the definition of explosive play. Let the man rest and stop blaming **** on other people while letting his notecard playbook off the hookHe is unfairly maligned about this by so many of you. I will grant you that he is not the best fundraiser in the world, but he did not "completely 17ed up" the situation. The situation was always going to be bad for MSU. 7 better than Auburn (no Mississippi):You are putting ole Miss ahead of auburn? If you aren’t your statement is incredibly stupid. If you are, your statement is incredibly stupid.

So ole Miss is in the playoffs in the new era7 better than Auburn (no Mississippi):
Bama
LSU
Texas
Oklahoma
Tennessee
Georgia
Florida.
and I didn’t even mention Texas A&M.
NIL is the basis for everything in college athletics now. That it was going to be that way was obvious from the start. Cohen dropped the ball and we are in a deep hole now. He might be the worst single employee MSU has ever had.No it doesn’t
No he’s not. Don’t be stupid.NIL is the basis for everything in college athletics now. That it was going to be that way was obvious from the start. Cohen dropped the ball and we are in a deep hole now. He might be the worst single employee MSU has ever had.
Our NIL is healthier than AU’s currently. So ole Miss is in the playoffs in the new era
and you think auburn can’t be?
Have you not seen the mass exodus of AU players? Did you not see us flip Womack?Proof?
Have you not seen the mass exodus of AU players? Did you not see us flip Womack?
Our proof will be coming in the next week as well
Cohen doesn’t prioritize NIL. They have even restructured how they plan on spending NIL
We agree on a lot but this we do not. They have a sever funding issues with NIL.Your post backs my claim.
they paid a ton of money and people are leaving bc the coach left.
they aren’t leaving bc they don’t have money.
You have zero proof of thatWe agree on a lot but this we do not. They have a sever funding issues with NIL.
I’m not sure where your getting your info from or why your defending Cohn. Honestly I’m not sure where your confusion or lack of knowledge is coming from but I’m not going to spend my time and energy arguing with you when I have actual sources in the industry. Have a nice day and HailstateYou have zero proof of that
Auburn has never had an issue with raising money
Ever
You made a claim that auburn is suffering in NIL yet you can’t back that up at all.I’m not sure where your getting your info from or why your defending Cohn. Honestly I’m not sure where your confusion or lack of knowledge is coming from but I’m not going to spend my time and energy arguing with you when I have actual sources in the industry. Your $30MM figure is Bulldog Initiative NIL + Revenue Sharing from the school, right? Because, if so, then that's a huge improvement but still does not make us all that competitive financially.Good points. The never will gives and the no matter what Lebby haters don’t understand the **** show Selmon and Leb inherited.
Also our NIL is north of 30MM. But let’s keep acting like we can’t compete and we are poor
I really don’t care what you belive. I doubt you even give a dime. This past year 2024/25 we were between 15-17MM and that didn’t include Rev share. We have a lot and I mean a lot more than that before you add in Rev share which really starts with this class. That’s the best way I can explain to it youYour $30MM figure is Bulldog Initiative NIL + Revenue Sharing from the school, right? Because, if so, then that's a huge improvement but still does not make us all that competitive financially.
If you are saying 30MM before adding in revenue sharing, well, I dont believe you.
Sure they can be. But not often. So ole Miss is in the playoffs in the new era
and you think auburn can’t be?
I’ll go along with often. But it wasn’t really hard for ole miss to make it so it won’t be hard for auburn to make it.Sure they can be. But not often.
Auburn is not helped by having Bama & Georgia as permanent opponents. They won’t have schedules like Mississippi had this year.I’ll go along with often. But it wasn’t really hard for ole miss to make it so it won’t be hard for auburn to make it.
above average coach
Luck in the portal
Little luck with the schedule
He hired mohead when we had a roster built to win 10 games with a competent spread coach. He hired leach after trying to hire joe judge, who I think could be good but he had no business offering the job to a guy who has never called plays.Epic failure with NIL here. No doubt.
What does their NIL look like at auburn now?

When we hired morehead everyone in the country thought it was a good hire. Hiring coaches is hard.He hired mohead when we had a roster built to win 10 games with a competent spread coach. He hired leach after trying to hire joe judge, who I think could be good but he had no business offering the job to a guy who has never called plays.
he wasn’t terrible picking coaches, but he wasn’t good enough at it to make up for his other shortcomings.
NIL is literally the most important job of an AD. He is awful. He left NIL terrible but outside of that we’ve had way way worse.
we wandered the wilderness for most of our history up to 1990.
anyone after 1990 isn’t in the worst 5 by a long shot.
