There is some "slight of hand" going on in that trailer.

first off, As the voice over starts in this shot I'm pretty sure that's Captain Phasma standing on the bridge

And I'm not so sure if Kylo is holding that Vader helmet. Just because it's all in that little sequence doesn't mean it's connected.

Looks like Captain Lensflare makes an appearance as well. Light side, for sure.

nah. luke threw away his saber before he turned and refused the emperor. he was close, but then stepped away from the edge before giving in to the power he felt overpowering his pops. J.J. is almost most certainly playing it safe with this movie. nothing that big me thinks anyway.

Yeah, I'm definitely in the camp that thinks "Luke Skywalker is EVIL NOW" would pretty much cancel out the entire original trilogy - which would be really, really weird, as everything I've seen suggests that they're trying to recapture the spirit of that very trilogy. Plus, Disney paid 4 billion bucks for the franchise and are planning to put out one Star Wars related movie per year. Just can't see them pulling something like that, especially in the very first act of a new trilogy.

I could see that line, but its a stretch. Its like how in Wicked, the Wicked Witch was really good and Dorthy killed her sister and stole a family heirloom in the shoes.

Yes - but "Wicked" was directly intended to have a completely different tone than the Baum books and was aimed at a totally different audience (adults instead of kids).

I just was using it as a reference point to show embellishment or new lines of thought that artists/writers are now going. Taking a known story and changing the direction or notions of what we have about those classic stories.

I did read a theory that Luke Skywalker is actually the guy in the mask, not kylo ren or maybe is kylo ren? But it said Luke was the sith, or something of that order. Just expands this theory.

Did you or anyone else read the Timothy Zahn series with Grand Admiral Thrawn?

Luke is not Kylo Ren. There's photos of Driver sans mask.

I really enjoyed the Zahn books, although it's been years since I read them. They were the only Star Wars books worth reading IMO.

The theory was that the masked man and Driver are not same. Two competing but different entities. Misdirection on Abrahms part

It's one thing to say Cumberbatch is John Harrison and not Kahn. I don't think they would say Driver is playing Kylo Ren and then have someone else play Kylo Ren.

Maybe I'm not an art film but I don't give a **** about lens flares and don't see why people get worked up over them. Seems silly.

Yeah, I do find the lens flares to be excessive at times, but I've always felt the backlash about them to be way over the top.

I will say this and with completely no agenda but to get this thought out of my head that ive had since the first trailer came out.

I hope the movie is awesome, I for certain will go see it, cannot wait!

But yes, the sex and race of the key characters is like most other movies coming out, its not a shame, but it is intentional, and that in itself is a shame.

Its like this; they know their audience, they will buy a ticket regardless,,, now lets try and figure out how to pull more peoples interest.
Nothing wrong with that, but its obviously a marketing twist and star wars of all movies doesnt need that.
Thats my opinion, I could be wrong...

I just hope the movie itself keeps some original star wars trilogy credibility versus selling out and taking the idiocracratic delivery that is ever so common these days.

I liked and appreciated the newest star trek movies, so we should be okay.

^ Thank you. It's extremely obvious but I love Star Wars so much I don't care. I do absolutely believe the female character "Rey" is going to be the Luke Skywaker/savior of this new series. I think that's a safe bet.

I can't wait though for Kylo Ren. Hope he gets the proper treatment.

On a related note, been watching a couple of the old trilogy. I don't get the hate for Return of the Jedi. I love it.

"No, you have failed your highness. I am a Jedi, like my father before me!"

"So be it... Jedi"

is better all 3 of the prequels combined

If you get past the Ewoks which is pretty dang easy to do IMO Jedi is bad ***. I mean it would have been off the charts if the Ewoks were Wookies and they used Chewy to rally them against the Empire but what can you do?

i saw this in my FB feed, didn't read it through but just skimming it is both hilariously awesome, and plausible

Everyone needs to read this. I have never been a huge Star Wars fan. Just never took the time really. After reading this theory for the last two hours that may change. I'm intrigued and I'm going to go back and watch the prequels with this in mind. Then I'll watch the originals leading up to the force awakens.

I'm not either but that seems incredibly, incredibly unlikely.

Well, there's 0% chance that was Lucas' intention, but it's fun to think about. I wonder what the perception of the prequels would've been if that had ultimately been a big reveal in Episode III.
It's says that Lucas changed it because of the vitriolic reaction to Binks by the fans. They already have a website haha http://darthjarjar.com

I may have misread, but I think that was just his opinion of what happened.
Yeah. It's speculation. But they do a good job of supporting it. I've read through the entire original reddit post and there is a lot of really cool information to back this theory. It's still pretty cool regardless it it comes to fruition or not,

Would not be surprised to hear that Jar Jar was/is Jedi/Sith, but I don't think he'd be aware of it. I'd like to think in the Han Solo standalone film, Han somehow kills him.
